Well, I figured out I didn't buy anything this year or even request freebies. Oops! I mean when you have the equivalent of 1500 CD's in mp3 files do you really need anymore music? But in 2005 I bought stuff by Buffalo Springfield, Steve Marriott, The Flaming Lips, Yardbirds, Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd, The Mars Volta, Coheed and Cambria and Arch Enemy. You know the Arch Enemy is really great classic rock if you take away the growling. I did hear the Killers new one and it's pretty good. Also, hearing cool bands on myspace when they request us as friends. Gun Barrel, 7th Son, CC Rock Band and Arrest are really good. Frank DeHaven is an amazing vocalist. What did y'all listen to?

PS - of course I listened to Zep, Priest, Queen, Metallica, etc. like I have for the last 30 years!

Yipes! That's quite the list you've got there Hawk! Like Steve, I have not bought much this past year... I guess I've grown up a little and have been investing my money on the apartment and decorating instead of buying 10 CDs per month

But regardless of that... no matter if I had bought 1,000 newly released CD's this past year the number one top spot would have been a no-brainer...

A Matter Of Life And Death by Iron Maiden for me was the best metal CD I've heard in years... yes I know that people will call me a "fangirl" and whatnot, but it truly is an amazing record to me.

Besides that nothing really caught my attention... I recently bought Craddle of Filth's "Thornography" and I am enjoying it... although it does not stand up to "Nymphetamine"... I am not a big COF fan, but they really captured my attention with Nynphetamine...

That's about it... there might have been a few records that I forgot about... excuse me, I am feeling a bit rusty :)

Hey Wyvern how does the Solitude A compare with their previous stuff? They really don't have any bad albums.

Steve I do feel this is a strong comeback. As you said they don't have bad albums and this one by no means is weaker than the previous ones. IMO is a great follow-up to "Adagio" but I do sense also the spirit of "Through The Darkest Hour" in it, no meaning regression but continuity of their quality doom.

I'm sure you'll like it ;)

First of all I do not plan to grow up, ever! :) Second most of the material in my list I got to know when people send me the promo so I could review it for Aardschok and Digital Steel. I got to know Seventh Wonder because of their promo. Hearing it I was blown away!! What a killer album that is!

Geez, I buy no fewer than 100 CDs each year. Maybe I have a problem. But there are always SO many new albums from bands I dig.

And yes, my CD collection is getting to be quite extensive. But computer files, for me, just don't cut it.
