Mysery's Crown [may contain spoilers]

Great song.. Style is same than Exposures first half. Same i can hear in the focus shift. both are good songs.. but whole cd.. naah. fiction and character sounds too much todays mainstream death metal.

Now I've got the album I can honestly say this track stands out in a good way. it's not my favourite track but I think it's probably more anthemic than the wonders at your feet and final resistance (I know they were album openers and so were obviously going to either open or close shows on the tour, like the New build did and is the tradition with most bands touring on new albums). But honestly, I think if this song is heard or played enough in the right circumstances, they'll have entire festival audiences singing along to that main keyboard melody. It's just so uplifiting while also having that gloomy edge with the rest of the band playing almost stonerish chords. To say it's gothic sounding is pretty accurate, but the DTness over rides.

Just like the verses on Particle Storm sound quite blackmetally. DT don't need to stick to one kind of sound anymore. This is their 8th/9th album. Every album previously has been amazing. They have earned their right by lending to most genres to borrow borrow back from others.

To me it sounds as if it could have been on Projector. Maybe in that case it would be weak compared to the rest of the songs, but in Fiction it makes a nice contrast. It's not my favourite from the album so far, but i still like it a lot, i like the change it brings. And, above all, i love the way Mikael delivers the clean vocals this time. :)

I don't think his exellent cleans have changed since Projector, I just think they were produced differently. Most of the cleans off Projector were double vocals, with some type of overlay.

Anyway, I love Misery's Crown and although I like heavy metaphors, the direct lyrics were a nice change of pace and enjoyable as all hell. This and Mundane & The Magic are probably my two favs off the album.

My least favorite song on Fiction but it's still good and has its moments. I really love Stanne's clean singing but I wasn't digging much of the riffing beneath it. The songs with clean vocals on Projector were much better musically.
