The Transilvanian horde of Negura Bunget has always been one of the most peculiar and atypical black metal acts in the world and it would only be natural that they would find their way to the avantgarde stables of Code666. Awaiting the band's fifth full-length album they are issuing this four-track EP to quench the thirst for blood of their dedicated fans. These four pieces of music are all very representative of the band's mid-paced atmospheric black metal and their will to experiment with unconventional song structures that are nowhere else to be found. Each Negura Bunget release is as much a rich and detailed musical experience as it is a spiritual journey into the minds of its creators and the soul of the Transilvanian nature and its past. "Inarborat Kosmos" is not an exception and it once again proves that Negura Bunget is one of the most daring and creative orchestras of modern black metal. If you are not lucky enough to get hold of one of the 734 copies of this strictly limited edition you will have to wait until October this year for their next full-length album "OM" which I am really looking forward to.

Le nouvel album des Roumains de Negura Bunget se faisant attendre et étant retardé, le trio a décidé de sortir ce mini 4-titres exclusif et limité à 734 copies histoire de faire patienter les fans. Sur ce mini, on retrouve 2 morceaux, 1 interlude et 1 outro. Ici, le style de Negura Bunget s'affine encore plus avec toujours ce black atmosphérique folklorique si particulier. Le groupe réussit encore à créer des morceaux de black incroyablement aérien et planant avec une utilisation adéquate de plusieurs types de chant et des inctrumentaux plus nombreux. Il ne faut pas non plus oublier une utilisation et une certaine maitrise de technologies informatiques et de synthés bien sympas donnant un p'tit côté futuriste avant-gardiste qui me plait ! Les 2 titres sont d'ailleurs très glauques et réussis sur tous ces plans. Le résultat me fait parfois penser à une sorte d'Arcturus des Carpathes avec des nappes de claviers et un style symphonico-atmosphérique rappelant le travail des Norvégiens à leurs débuts ("Constellation" et "Aspera hiems symphonia" principalement). Bref, voilà qui nous promet un nouvel album de grande qualité car ces 20 minutes valent largement le coup surtout qu'une partie multimédia bien fournie est ajoutée. Le début de la confirmation de l'excellent "'n crugu bradului". August 2005

Le groupe le plus respecté de Transylvanie est de retour, trois années après la sortie de "'N crugu bradului", son troisième album et le premier à disposer d'une distribution enfin décente grâce à une signature meritée sur Code666. Il ne s'agit pas ici du nouvel album de NEGURA BUNGET mais d'un MCD quatre titres destiné à nous faire patienter jusque l'automne prochain, période où sortira "OM", le quatrième album du groupe. J'espère que celui ci n'aura aucun rapport avec un quelconque club de foot auquel cas cet album risquerait fort d'obtenir des résultats (de vente) assez calamiteux notamment en perdant un acheteur potentiel en la personne d'un supporter stéphanois bien connu dans nos colonnes.
Pour ceux qui n'auraient jamais eu l'occasion de poser une oreille sur la musique du groupe, NEGURA BUNGET donne dans le black metal. Un black metal dont il a une idée bien particulière, idée qu'il a a affinée tout au long de ces années sur les albums et mini-albums qui ont jalloné sa carrière. Les synthés occupent une place importante dans la musique de nos Roumains, Ils apportent une large contribution en aidant à poser les ambiances qui sont au coeur de la musique du groupe. Le chant parfois hurlé, parfois plaintif sort lui aussi des sentiers battus. L'origine transylvanienne du groupe transparait constamment au travers de la musique du groupe (sans pour autant que l'on est l'impression d'être dans un film de vampires, le groupe ayant su eviter cet écueil très facilement). Les morceaux souvent assez longs ont une structure assez complexe, parties énergiques et violentes et passages posés très atmosphèriques s'enchaînent très bien même si parfois certains passages peuvent parfois laisser perplexe. NEGURA BUNGET ne cède jamais à la facilité, c'est une partie de sa marque de fabrique. Cela ne plaira sans doute pas à tout le monde mais peut-on reprocher à ce groupe de faire ce qui lui plaît sans se soucier de rentrer dans un quelconque moule ? Non, bien sûr. Amateurs de black metal atmosphèrique, vous savez ce qui vous reste à faire... Ne traînez pas, ce MCD nous arrive dans un joli digipack limité à 734 exemplaires, il n'y en aura pas pour tout le monde...

Unsurprisingly instead of stretching out the same approach on Transylvanian spiritual space NB's, the band is taking conceptually (musically too) a step forward - a shift but with high results and expectations for next releases. This new shift is more about cosmology, the inspiration for the most part comes from models of Cosmos from ancient times envisioned by Plato and Plutarch respectively - in this direction but of course embedded with personal figments of the imagination expressed in the lyrics. So, I experience a fresh and even a more deep breath taking feeling when listening to IK. It appears that the artists have into their hands more keys to a fertile land of self expression. How did they found them? Found them by hard working and inspiration of some gifted and intelligent people.
This MCD is only a small piece of example of how the new material will echo as well as, the first release of the Neguras studio: the MCD was entirely recorded, mastered, produced by NB in their studio - the results are good.
The 4 tracks are connected, first track it's a NB specific black metal with percussion elements and use of keyboards with a more dark and emotional approach - just listen carefully to the ending part of it, how keyboards, drums and bass can bring on such a sublime part. The second track uses only ambient elements and percussion ones, at some point the track reminds about Nar Mattaru (MAs Covenant album) electro/dark elements - a nice one. The third piece is also in the specific atmospheric black metal NBs aura, the song line alternates from faster parts to mid atmospheric. The harshness of the voice is more refined, sophisticated and the clean parts are great. The fourth is an atmospheric one, screams and mood that seems to foresee a darker side about perpetuity, a kind of scream against the feeling of hopelessness caused by the unfeasibility to give oneself an answer within the great emptiness. Like into a more symbolic delusion one inhalation of air (Octahedron) would kill you, would absorb you into the ALL.
With this release NB wrings out a secret of its own: there are no definitive answers to express in words, beyond our logical structure that always longs for answers there is some knowledge that providentially is explainable by art and particularly thru music.

Hier jedoch, möchte der geneigte Kunstfreund denken, hat die Zeit nicht für ein komplettes Werk gereicht oder die Vorbereitungen für die neue Scheibe „OM“ dauern einfach zu lang. Denn die gerade mal 20 Minuten bestehen nur aus vier Songs, wobei 'Songs' nicht wirklich zutrifft. Lediglich 'Wordless Knowledge' und 'Uprising Follow' erfüllen den Anspruch, echte Songs zu sein, Lieder, die von (Black) Metal und elektronischen Klang-Experimenten leben. Die anderen Machwerke gleichen eher sphärischen Überleitungen mit Ambient-Anklängen, besseren Überleitungen, um die Wirkung der echten Titel zu verstärken. Das mag der ein oder andere langweilig finden. Andere mögen meinen, dass dieses kurze Werk ein einziger Song für sich ist, eine Ode an die extreme Kunst, an Black Metal, an düstere Atmosphäre, an wunderschöne Melodie-Momente. Es gab Vorreiter, wie Tiamat zu ihren extremen Zeiten, man mag an Emperor denken, immer wieder. NEGURA BUNGET führen den Avantgardismus dieser echten 'Elite' weiter. Das werden viele nicht verstehen, weil die Musik nicht reinläuft wie ein frisch gezapftes Pilschen, sondern eher im Halse stecken bleibt wie klebriger Hustensaft. „Inarborat Kosmos“ ist sperrig, alles andere als eingängig – aber niemals mathematisch. Diese Scheibe ist ein Kunstwerk für eine unverstandene Minderheit, eine Vereinigung von Außenseitern und solchen, die es werden wollen. Nur die werden auch die Punktewertung verstehen.
