Has anyone else been paying attention to the performances of the reformed Nevermore? They released a documentary style video of them rehearsing with the band's new members a few weeks ago, and then they played their first official gig on the 1st of April in Istanbul, Turkey. I will admit to being a big fan of this band, and wasn't really surprised when they broke up because of Warrel Dane's drinking problems. I was shocked when the news broke that he'd died of a heart attack of all things at the age of only 56, but booze and diabetes don't play well together.
Jeff and Van wanted to resurrect the band after over a decade apart, and the new members that they've chosen look and sound like they've been together for years already. The new vocalist has some huge shoes to fill replacing someone like Warrel, whose vocals and lyrics are some of the best in metal music history.
It was fucking awesome seeing Jeff Loomis up on stage playing those trademark Nevermore riffs again, and the entire band sounded awesome. I'm looking forward to hearing some new Nevermore music, and hopefully seeing them live in their hometown of Seattle again in the near future.
