NEW BEHEMOTH

Yeah, everyone boners over it, but it's too messy for my tastes (though of course I'm looking at it from 15 years later). Anyway, we shall see!

I don't think bands like Carcass or DevilDriver are that far away from Behemoth when it comes to heaviness/brutality. It's not like one would consider them a "brutal death" band whatsoever...

I'm sure Colin will deliver an outstanding mix... really really love his work. I'm actually much more concerned about Behemoth starting to get stale.

I think it will be interesting to hear is take on it. I have faith that he will do it justice. With his experience I'm sure he has down the research to hone in on his version of the Behemoth sound.

Colin Richardson layed some ultimate sound down for Cannibal Corpse - The Wretched Spawn, and Overkill - Killbox13.

I've recently watched the 'Centuries Of Torment' doc about Corpse and it's very focused on "musician's issues" and production details for basically every release.

It's kinda funny how they praise Colin to be this weird sound-scientist... Hearing Scott Burns philosophize about the old days is pretty cool, too.

I know I've already said it (and in this thread, no less) but I fucking LOVE Nergal's guitar.

I also can't help but add a little internal monologue to the brothers in that shot...

"Hmmm...perhaps if I turn zis knob..."
"Sigh, I am bored. I vish I could turn ze knobs for a while."

HAhahaha, the endless family feud wages on

AND, the moment I know I've been waiting for!

EDIT: And now that I've watched it, the riffs sound fucking heavy as hell, and I'm giddy like a schoolgirl over here, FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK I love this band!!!!! The bass unfortunately sounds too loud relative to the guitars IMO in all the intermittent clips they play (not just the ones where Orion is tracking), but hopefully that'll be remedied! (I'm not too worried)

YOU GO GIRL!! :D And you also misquoted, I had the  there cuz obviously it doesn't matter what it's called - I just prefer to call it a bridge or groove break since breakdown to me implies they have something in common with, like, Throwdown :loco:

Suffocation were doing breakdowns before any weedily REEE REEE bands were in diapers, hahaha. They do it better too I might add.

I can't wait to get home and watch this new vid! Damn you work firewall. :-(

Well behemoth has toured with a bunch of hardcore bands so they have something in common.

And soon to be Marilyn Manson as well, god knows how that came to be! :zombie: (hell, I thought MM had thrown in the towel by now)

That show is going to be fucking awesome. It's like a bunch of bands I like and only a couple I hate as opposed to the other way around. I think MM's a fucking perfect fit with Behemoth. They both have the weird get up stage vibe.

I'm not a huge MM fan, but "Portrait of an American Family" is fucking awesome in my opinion. Everything after that except for a select few on "Smells Like Children" I can pass on.

Behemoth are definitely in the top for me too!

Although as much as I hate Breakdowns (probably more than Marcus :p) I realised I only really do because it became a "thing" in scene metal bands.
Slayer has a breakdown in Raining Blood and it sounded so weird to me at first to admit they did.

See, that part in Raining Blood I wouldn't call a breakdown, but rather just a bridge/different riff; "breakdowns" to me are the slow chugga-chugga parts, usually with a tempo change, pretty sparse, sometimes spastic (e.g. Unearth's "Endless Fight" :ill: ) And for all we know the aforementioned Behemoth riff could easily be the main riff for a groovy song like "At the Left Hand ov God"

Some might say I'm obsessing too much over the details so as to separate hardcore breakdowns, but I think the differences are pretty clear!

Another example would be on Misery Signals' "Controller," which is a CD I hate to admit I've gotten pretty fond of; even though there are a fair amount of hardcore traces on there, I honestly think the only genuine "breakdown" is at the end of "Labyrinthian" (which I always skip once it gets there  )
