Essential HEEP:
The Magician's Birthday
Salisbury
Demons & Wizards
The Magicians Birthday
Look at Yourself

Ten years ago I bought "Demons & Wizards" (on vinyl!) just to check them out. I thought it was almost nothing but odious dinosaur rock. The exceptions were "Easy Livin'" and "Rainbow Demon" which were pretty good dinosaur rock. If that's one of their best I'm not going to bother with them.

Fair enough my friend.
I mean, yes, they influenced bands like Gamma Ray and BG, but you are not going to find piped in overdramatized backing vocals throughout or anything.

They are NOT a metal band. They are an influential classic hard / prog rock band.

If you don't like Demons & Wizards, you won't like anything else. They ARE a dinosaur rock band. One of the best, but if you're looking for anything other than classic rock, you're going to be disappointed.

why do you get so worked up that people dont like Uriah Heep. Who give a fuck if they influnced bands. Ihave heard enough of that band to know I dont like them. And not just stuff you have posted. I went to youtube friday night and sampled more....like Dave said. not good.

Not worked up at all.

I know what Dave likes, and was explaining why it may not be the band for him.

There are plenty of bands LIKE Heep that I enjoy which I don't push as much.

Only reason why I push them is because out of their breed, I think they are the ones that may appeal to prog metal and power metal fans the most (And even to a small degree, folk metal fans).

Good for you. And for the record, no one was talking to you.......
There are plenty of bands out there for you to discover so you can say you heard of em first, and then you can jerk off to them, and call Odin to book them because, you know, "Every band draws well in the city"

I love your attempts at bringing threads back on topic.......
As if that's almost going to work around these parts.......

Just trying to stop world war 3 from happening over Uriah Heep ;)

On a side note, i once had a Uriah Heep - Salisbury cd in my formative music years, back when i was 16 or so. Bought it because it was cheap, never listened to it, and put it up on Ebay when I was 19. Sold for $23, thats why i love Uriah Heep :)

All CDs?

Born Again is in my top 10 most under rated metal albums of all time.

i recently got FIREBALL in a trade, though I haven't spun it yet.

I still need to get the latest Candlemass.
I have to be honest that my interest dropped because of them canning Lowe immediately after the release. I think the band should have waited a little bit first, as I bet it had to have hurt sales. Most knew instantly they wouldn't see the band live for this album so the excitement died quick, at least for me.

It's a good album, but it takes a couple of listens. Some weird stuff going on in some of the songs. I personally liked Lowe at least on disc the most of all the candlemass singers. I do think now they need to just retire. I know it's their last album, but I don't see much point in touring now unless they get Messiah.
