New CD's that you have gotten recently

This is also the first Candlemass (since I've been a fan) I didn't buy right on release date. Shrug. Pate's haul up there is A+. One of my favorite - possibly THE favorite -Lizzy songs is on Johnny the Fox.

So they weren't nearly as influential on power metal as Queen was, is that what you're saying?

Vocally? Absolutely not.

Uriah Heep was never "flashy" or "over the top theatrical"

I have a love / hate relationship with QUEEN.
Kind of like I have with Zeppelin.
Sometimes I hear it and "get" it. Other times I can't make it through a song.

Queen used to really get on my nerves until I heard a track from their first LP on the local 60's/70's rock/prog/etc show. Great stuff. Made me revisit them and while I still can't get into a lot of their material, they have some really great albums.

The show is located here for anyone interested:

I've found LOTS AND LOTS of gems there.

I'm a raging Queen fanatic. The band that got me into music, period. Whether it's their head-banging material or the silly showtunes business or duets with David Bowie, I'm game.

Queen is God. Freddie Mercury GREATEST front man ever, period. Brian May guitar genius and master of layering an production. Roger Taylor and John Deacon brilliant song writers. Brilliant band all around.

That debacle with Paul Rodgers though, i dont know what that was all about. Thats like calling Thin Lizzy, Thin Lizzy even though Phil has been gone for 30 years...

Just got this 10 CD haul, all used, locally.

Falconer - s/t
Catapult the Smoke - Born in Fire
Our Survival Depends on Us - *long pretentious title*
Spiritus Mortis - The God Behind the God
Probot - s/t
The Hidden Hand - The Resurrection of Whiskey Foote
Place of Skulls - With Vision
Dissection - Storm of the Light's Bane/Where Dead Angels Lie EP
Force of Evil - s/t
Hell - Human Remains

Daylight Dies blows............

I highly disagree. I'm surprised you don't like them actually as they fall right in the "dark metal" category. They're really good at what they do. I'm sure you just have a bad taste in your mouth due to the plethora of bands at that Candlemass show.
