New Evergrey album (is going to suck)

Just like your username makes you sound like you just raped a kindergarten full of special ed students...

Well that was pretty retarded...

So far I've got 3 tracks of it, and there's nothing to get excited over. Unspeakable was alright but the choruses are all generic crap, there's not enough keyboard presence, and it's so damn mainstream sounding.

EDIT: And why do so many songs run just a little over 3 minutes long?

Hey, you wern't suppose to say anything about what I did to you during class, remember, that was just nap time....

On a serious note I might find have found that a bit offensive if it didnt come from someone from Montana...

So YOU'RE the one who stole my milk and graham cracker!

The rules are pretty simple, & no one's making you be here if you don't like them. No one else seems to have a problem with it.

Heard the new cd....It's not bad......It's no In Search of, but it sounded fine to these ears. I'm not an Evergrey fanboy, just a casual fan.

You guys are so fricken uptight here. It's like a metal Puritan colony...
Actually, if this was a metal Puritan colony, we'd have all accused oneanother of being witches and killed eachother.

So far this album seems pretty good to my ears, albeit it's definately less creative, and the riffing is generic at all times. The total picture is definately Evergrey because of Tom's emotional vocal melodies, the songs are pretty good, but the music itself sounds more like a modern metal band (i.e. Lamb of God), same goes for the guitar tone.
Keyboards are very rare on this album, and when they're there, they add little to nothing to the song, which is a shame. The production is also very heavy, and leaves no room for a little atmosphere. I can hear they're aiming for a larger audience, but the essence isn't lost. You can still hear true emotion in Evergrey's music and that's the most important thing. It's still the style of music I prefer, but with keyboards it would be way better.

I guess it doesn't quite appeal to the 20-sided dice crowd here... I'm sure everybody would love it if it was titled something like "Centaur Warriors of the Emerald Apocalypse".

Er, not at all. I hate dungeons and dragons lyrics more than anyone (yes, I hate nearly all symphony x lyrics), and this just sounds almost as bad. It's like an insanely corney film title.

I don't know, it's like going up to some random mum/dad/teenage girl/teacher who doesn't like metal and doesn't know what it's about, to come up with a title for a metal album on the spot. Cliche I guess is the best description.

It's not even that; the title doesn't make sense. I don't think it's cheesy, I don't think it's cliche, I think "huh?" when I hear it. Something may have gotten lost in translation when they came up with it.

I belive in what Jax says.Eventhough,Evergrey is a very good prog or neo-prog band(however you want to call it),more instrumentally, than vocally. The way it may suck for many,is that their vocalist has a very...weak voice, witch differs drastically with the heavy instrumentals.
Analyze some songs calmly and you will find why I say this. :goggly:

I think you misunderstood him. He was making fun of those people. Wow... progsnobbery at it's finest right there.

WHAT? j00 liek POWER METAL LYRICS? j00 OFFEND ME!!! ARRGHHEGH!!!

(note: dig at SantiagoSilva, not at ProgMetalFan. thank you, and please continue on)

I like Tom's vocals most of the time, he has a unique voice and doesn't go ball-grabbingly high. Also, I didn't think In Search of Truth was that amazing.
