New Label?

My contact at Roadrunner said that they are trying very hard to sign Opeth. I asked if they might get Anathema too and he said no.

Anyone heard anything else?

i could care less who they get signed to. they are not going to chane their music. but, of course some people will not like their new album, and automatically blame it on the record label.

What about The End records? or Nuclear Blast...or would that be a horrible thing

Jerry signed a one album licensing deal and agreed to release a one disc version of Degradation Trip. Roadrunner didn't force him to do anything. They put him on the road with the biggest band in the country at the time and again on a headlining tour with limited sales results. So they cut his tour funding. Big deal, tons of artists tour without label support. Jerry chose to go home and cry about it. I love Jerry's music, but he's not the best business man or self promoter.

Obviously it would be the end of the world if Opeth had to tour with slipknot, but I could see what would happen. You would get the Opeth fans and metal heads, and the kids that cut themselves all into a concert venue, add some alcohol and drugs, and then you hear all of a sudden during the Slipknot set "SLIPKNOT SUCKS" and it just leads to an onpour of it..... then all the metalheads triumphantly kill the kids that cut themselves and storm the stage where they steal all of Slipknots equipment, then realized it belongs to Slipknot and trashes it..... then they hunt down slipknot..... or at least it would be a great evening.... kill a few slipknot fans.... make a band feel bad about themselves..... get a little loaded....

Heh... I remember reading about some show in France... Slipknot played between Morbid Angel and Suffocation... I think it sort of goes without saying the type of people who would've been there. Apparently the band got pretty cut up from all those flying bottles.

And I rekon Opeth should sign to Earache... can't go wrong.

as much as I would love them to sign with The End Records, I know they would not be able to support Opeth and such like they need to be.
