It's good.....but it's a bit too long isn't it? Holy shit, does it feel long. The intro on the first track is 6 minutes.

I dunno folks, I get the sense they've made a couple of long songs just because they can.

I only own their previous three albums, and so far, I have to say that I prefer those three over this.

Yeah, after 10 or so listens, this album is WAY too drawn out. I feel like the next album is going to be a single 70-minute track that repeats the same riff for 25 minutes somewhere in the middle of the song. They did this overly-epic crap with Verisakeet (and it was actually good), so now they need to return to the style of Kivenkantaja and/or Suden Uni!

This new album isn't terrible, it's actually great compared to most of the shit coming out currently, but it is nowhere near Moonsorrow's best.

when they played the 2nd song live, it was the most epic event I ever witnessed next to seeing Green Carnation perform "Light of Day, Day of Darkness" in its entirety.

My simplistic analysis after repeated listens over time: the first track is a masterpiece, the second track is merely very good (with a way too boring first part of the song).

Thumbs way up - same old top notch Moonsorrow.

I'll say this, I don't want Moonsorrow to do this again. They need to go back to writing songs, not soundtracks.

You and I are in complete agreement on that one. I consider this a "one and done". If they deviate from that plan and keeping releasing songs of this magnitude, their albums will quickly become snoozefests.

If they go back the shorter (albeit still mammoth) song lengths, then I forsee this album standing out more and more over time.

I listened to it once and gave up after track 1. Not because it was boring, but because it made my knees shake like Elvis after a line of coke. So unbelievably good I knew I had to save the second track for hardcopy listening purposes.

I was just going through my list of albums from 2007 on my iPUD, and I realized I removed the new Moonsorrow altogether.

That said, should I revisit? Do those of you who liked this early on still listen?

I couldn't say. I found it totally useless to start with. Then the first track's slow-building, disillusioned bitterness caught me by the throat on some train ride, which prompted a week or two of dedicated listens. Now I don't give a fuck anymore. Blah...

It's definitely worth revisiting the first track if you're in a patient listening frame of mind (i.e. not looking for background or quick fix music). The second track is wholly forgettable.
