New Pro Tools Hardware

Yeh, Factory Bundle 003r w/ music production toolkit. I'd have no use for it if I went to HD so I'd be happy to trade it in.

yep.
thats my plan I reckon.
for home the omni looks kinda tempting. or hell maybe an old 96 or an 'old' 192

Apparently you just have to give them your serial and you can keep the LE software and hardware. Nice.

I just sent them an e-mail about M-Powered, I will let you guys know if an upgrade is possible and how much it would cost.

The thing is the new HD I/O is supposed to have amazing conversion. I'd probably rather get a 16/16 analogue I/O. They're only £4000 - spare change isn't it mate.

If I could flog my 003 for £350 as well then that's a native card for just over £2000 (once again, merely loose change)

haha! yeah! I'm literally going to get nothing for my 002

I don't wann buy a new mac pro (200Euros irritates me ;) ).... I have my mac mini for few months and it works great
At the same time I don't wanna go back to windows for audio... at least I don't wanna go back to xp!!! I have to try with w7, which for gaming I love so much

I just started using windows 7 in my studio this week (Pt8) and all my plugins worked except Redline Reverb. Everything seems to be going on nicely, and no errors whatsoever.

Sound's good, I'm considering switching to Windows 7 with PT 8 soon. Would you mind sharing what hardware you are running it on?

Lol, somehow the whole ProTools HD Native just seems retarded to me.
Is there actually any benefit over the regular PT HD?

I really don't see why I should buy a limited version when I get a used HD2 or even 3 system for roughly the same price.
Serious question, no bashing intended

I copied this from the duc...it'a a citation from a guy that tested the new HD

""Hi all,

After speaking with engineering, I need to let you know that I made an error in my previous post on creating LLM mixes. The LLM mixer is a 64x2 channel matrix so creating multiple direct stereo mixes is not possible.

However, there is a funny story there. I had been experimenting with the system, creating cue mixes and while I had taken all of those steps I had described, I omitted to enable "Low Latency Monitoring" (Image_4) in the Options menu. As I was checking the sound of my voice through the cue mix with a mic and headphones I noticed absolutely no latency. The sample rate was 44.1 and the buffer had been set to 32. To check that my mixes were LLM I turned up the buffer to 128 and still didn't notice any delay, so I mistakenly concluded that the multi-channel direct mix was working. What I had actually shown (to myself) was that the throughput latency of HD Native is insanely low, and that tracking at 128 sample buffers using 44.1k sample rates was an incredible sounding solution.

I haven't put the rig through the paces in terms of processing power at those settings yet—but they are pretty unreal."

Pretty promising... So with the new native, you can record at 32,64, 128 and probably more, with a really really low latency...

Found this just now.. whether it's real or not i have no ideal, but just to add fuel to the fire.......

Apparently Avid has been on a crusade to get that pic taken down from the online audio news sites and such. Also, I keep hearing from a lot of people who have talked to someone at Avid that PT9 will in fact be revealed at AES, and it will be the "open" DAW we've been asking. That, combined with the recent Airusersblog news (which have always been pretty much spot-on) makes me hopeful. Of course, it's all just speculation.
