I've spun it probably 10 times .. damn good disc in my opinion. It's perhaps not earth shattering in any way, but it's a strong return for these guys. The songs are good quality, and several of them are really catchy. Todd sounds really good .. he's an excellent replacement for Tate. He's not quite what Geoff was when he was on top, but he beats the hell out of him these days, and does those old tunes justice as well. This unit is now viable again, and has the chance to put out some really good material over the next few years, plus the live shows should be a major improvement because they can do so much more of the catalog. As for the new disc, If they could accomplish this much with a rushed out product imagine what could do if they take the time to fine tune everything.

I was thinking the same thing, if they put this out in this incredible short of a time, can you imagine what they are capable of if they really took their time??? Todd said they already have some songs written for the next cd, but wasn't able to say if they will be able to release the new one in 2014 or not....I also didn't know that Todd was already 41 years old. I thought he was much younger. His voice sounds damn good at 41!!! Tate's voice was already deteriorating quite a bit by the time he was 41. Perhaps it was the smoking, I don't know.....

I could have sworn he said he was turning 40 soon in a recent interview? Doesn't matter, his voice sounds like its mid 20 's :) He totally nailed the intro scream on Queen of the Reich!!!

Yea, I double checked and you are right Bear. He's turning 40... But still pretty crazy to nail those high pitched screams at 40 and sounding damn good doing it....

I pose a question then. Would you have a tired worn out voice or a new voice that albeit not original performer continue? '

I think we would ALL rather see the original in the group, if his direction in songwriting and performance was more in line with the rest of the band and the fanbase. While there have been criticisms about Geoff's vocals declining, that was never the core issue for the band or fans. You can work around that by performing the songs differently. What you CAN'T get around is trying to bury 20 years of shit writing, and Geoff's old ass dancing around in the vest and cabaret routine.

How do you know he hasn't been singing live for the past 20 years? I find it hard to believe that with pipes like that he hasn't been using them for a very long time in some form or another. He could very well have been singing live shows in and around Florida for a very long time.

I'm sure he has been singing. I think the point is that he hasn't been doing the non-stop touring/performing that Tate has.

He was a drummer for 20+ years, and while he did backing vocals in his prior bands, Crimson Glory was his first gig as a lead vocalist.

Forgive me for drudging up this old thread, but I finally got around to purchasing the digital version of this LaTorre QR album off of eMusic and it really seems to have too much distortion to the bass tones, like it was ripped too hot. I typically don't have this issue with eMusic DLs but I suppose it's bound to happen. Has anyone else had this issue with the eMusic version, or is this just the way this album sounds?

I think it's recorded like that. It kinda has a muddy bottom end to it, I agree. The product was a bit rushed to market so the mixing/mastering might have been on the cheap. I still like this record but I think they can do so much better. Give them time to properly write and record and I think you'll have a serious winner.

Funny that this got brought up, just saw that "The Farewell Tour of Queensryche" is coming to Albuquerque at the end of August. "STARRING GEOFF TATE". lol.....anyone know if this is his Vegas review type show that someone posted video on a while back? Or just a tired retread of him not quite hitting the notes to all the songs I hold fond memories of in my mind that are getting raped? Wait...did I say that last part out loud?
