It's not terrible or anything, but it is marginally slower and less CPU/RAM efficient than Firefox, and ever since Firefox got big Microsoft has pretty much been playing catch-up with them in terms of web standards compliance and new features. Although I don't do much research, it seems to me that Firefox has a better offering of add-ins, and that it's easier to install them. The ones that particularly make my life easier are AdBlock and Firebug (though Firebug is a web development tool so that wouldn't affect most people).

edit: yeah I second Pessi on the security and customizability issues.

I gave up on Internet Explorer a long time ago so I'm not sure if it's gotten better since then or not.

I prefer to use Opera but Firefox is just as good. I used to switch back and forth between the two but the past year or so I've really settled with in Opera. The main reason for that is because last time I was using Firefox it had a tendency to crash. But if I recall correctly, Firefox is the fastest of the three.

I love Firefox because it has built in spellchecker, faster, add-ons, and just seems to run better. I'm no tech nerd.

Yeah Firefox has had some crashing problems in the past. I think they've improved on that over time. I still experience crashes and shutdown issues every once in a while, but it's not really a big deal.

I used Opera for a while, but I stopped when it seemed to have problems loading a few fancier (and presumably less standards-compliant) websites properly.

Please explain what is so counter-intuitive about this:

versus this:

Clearly the red background is no more counterintuitive in Opera than in Firefox, as my screenshots illustrate.

As I said, it's the download manager. I've encountered a host of bugs in Opera; certain websites not opening, and... I don't recall the rest. It's not as user-friendly as Firefox.

Ok I didn't remember you saying all that, but that's certainly a better explanation than "counter-intuitive".

so I made a video today whilst out on a hike. it's 12 minutes long if you want to watch it. various odd clips from the beginning of the trail all the way to the car ride home (with some heavy metal playing of course...). Thought I'd post the link here just for funsies:

Not really but I do like to use it sometimes. And since it's open source I predict it will only get better. Firefox has Remove It Permanently, which is FUCKING GOD.
