NFL 2014

"Like I said, she was charged with assault as well, so at least the law is functioning to *some degree* on that."

Not sure I watched the same video then?

So it is only domestic violence if you are clearly stronger than the other person? There's that double standard again. There is no different in intent...

God you're fucking dense. Of course there is difference in intent. If you're not very strong, the worst you're punch could do is give someone a light bruise. When you hit someone or slap someone you know this about yourself, so your intent is not the same as someone with a bicep that looks like this:

ray-rice-flexing.jpg

That sort of strength can kill a person, so when you let one rip on someone-especially to their head- you KNOW you can cause serious harm.

Your argument is like saying someone that hits a kid with a ruler has the same intent has someone who its a kid with a sledgehammer. Use some fucking logic for once in your life.

My wife doesn't have anything to worry about because I do protect those around me that need it (as a member of the evilprivilegedwhitemalepatriarchy!). I'm just pointing out the contradictions of socialjusticyfeminism.

She definitely has something to worry about. You. If she ever had a moments slip and slapped you, you'd obviously feel justified in beating the shit out of her for "picking a fight with someone stronger than her."

Anyway, I'm done with you. Stay in your valley of ignorance. I don't really give a fuck. I just pray you never have any daughters. It would be awful to come home with a broken neck because you slapped your boyfriend across the face only to have your father take the boyfriend's side.

But what if the guy with the ruler tries to eye gouge you with it? I personally rather get hit with a hammer.

cf, your reasoning and logic is severely lacking, and then you resort to baseless personal attacks at the end in your frustration. All I've attempted to do is tease out the contradictions inherent to feministic and "equalitish" arguments. It's not a strawman if it is true, and as I read feminist outlets pretty regularly, I feel pretty confident I am not misrepresentating popular feminism. If for some reason I am missing the nuances of your position, the onus is on you to specifically explain how your position is not typical of the associated label(which is something both Pat and I have had to do re: political economy ad nauseum).

I think what Ray Rice did was incredibly immature and if Janay were my daughter I'd be flipping out not only over that incident but that they still got married as well. But hey, feminism at work. I'll just keep my patriarchal privileged mouth shut and stop mansplaining to battered women.

Back to football (if anyone wants to get into that more, move it to the Dak n Pat thread lol):

How about that fucking Dallas defense?? If the D continues to get healthier, I think this might turn into a 15ish ranked D, which would be phenomenal. McClain made a Lee-esque sort of athletic pick, and he is getting all over the field. Pass protection on the o-line hasn't been perfect, but the line is busting Murray free. I'm not as pessimistic as I was say, prior to the preseason.

Edit: BTW, RG3 will not be on the Deadskins next year.

Plus, ya know, Dan Bailey.

The amount of penalties in this game is farcical, but seeing replays, almost all seem to be properly called. Just super ugly football.

I'm encouraged by how good the Bears pass protect is. Run blocking is zero, unfortunately, and the receivers are clearly gimpy. (I benched Marshall for Sammy Watkins in fantasy, wisely.) The Bears are already old and super gimpy, but even the defense is rather improved. If not for the short TD after the blocked punt, it's been a respectable performance.

EDIT: Hahahaha, guess I was indeed wrong about benching Marshall, though Watkins and Cobb were not scrubs today. Brandin Cooks should have hit the bench for me.

How much credit do you want to give the Bears for receiving 120 yards in penalties? I will give them quite a bit of credit for the +4 turnover margin. Cutler was smart with the ball and the line protected him, and the turnovers they created were pretty ballhawky. They needed a ton to go right to win that game and it happened. Even some of the injuries worked in their favor. As much as everyone in Chicago adores Charles Tillman, his injury let Fuller come in and make two huge plays that basically won the game for them.

I rather enjoyed seeing Fuller get shit done. Tillman is great, no doubt, but look how well things went with him out and the kid in. Really fun game tonight

The Bears are going to lose about 45-6 tonight.

jets got hosed with that timeout call. only the head coach can signal a timeout from the sidelines. now they are saying the ref never saw a timeout signal. defensive player sheldon richardson said after the game he saw the OC telling rex ryan to call timeout and just told an official the sideline was signaling timeout so the ref said one was called without checking. the OC said he stopped trying to get ryan to call one after he saw how the packers defense had lined up incorrectly to cover every receiver on the play
