NFL 2014

If they only win 6 this is your sig.

If too many major injuries occur it's off, I'm reasonable

I don't get this sig shaming thing, so not going to do it, just going to think the Bills are finally on an upward trajectory.

I don't think it's too early to make some conjecture about next year roster stuff. I already said I think RG3 is getting traded at the end of the year for something like a 3rd rounder probably.

Looking at the Cowboys:

If McClain continues his current level of play, I don't think Sean Lee comes back as the Mike linebacker, I think he slides to Will. Lee is better in space and in coverage (or at least was before double injuries) than the other 'backers, and McClain can obviously take and deal the punishment levels required of the Mike in that defense.

NFL.com's power rankings are pretty much always garbage though. At 2-0, the Bills currently do need to be placed somewhere around the Saints. They need 6 wins with less losses than that before people aren't going to see this as more Fools Gold.

Not gonna happen. You don't trade 3 first rounders to give up on a guy after 3 years, especially when he's been to a pro bowl.

Cousins arguably has more trade value right now anyway. I think he could bring back a package of picks centered around a 10th-40th pick.

It's hard to say whether RG3 is particularly injury prone, or just unlucky. Clearly he was mismanaged by Shanahan. I think he's a good enough pocket passer to be successful if he significantly reduces the amount of plays he tries to make with his feet. More of a Romo/Rodgers type of mobility than a Newton/Kaepernick type. He's regularly had a poor set of targets too, much like Newton, though RG3 is a lot more accurate at the top of his game.

Cousins has more trade value because he has demonstrated more value with the same weapons and protection that RG3 has had at his disposal. You may as well say they wouldn't cut Haynesworth as a the 100milman but it happened.

I don't know what happened to RG3, whether it is just a lack of confidence or what, but he hasn't been the same mentally since he was injured.

Damn, some people are drinking the Cousins kool-aid way too fast. This is still a guy who has as many ints as TDs in his career and sucked pretty hard at the end of last season. I'm not saying he can't do it, but I am saying thus far he has not done it in his career, other than during a few chunks of a few games. Back up QBs are always overhyped; a classic example being Kevin Kolb in Philly, who got hyped for a few good spot performances but then never turned into anything as a starter. Let's see what Cousins does in the next 6-8 weeks before claiming he's worth a 1st round pick.

RG3 is far more accomplished. Of course, injuries throw a wrench in it all. Still, letting go of him or trading him is highly unlikely unless the recovery prognosis is very, very bad. It's not comparable to Haynesworth, because the opportunity cost of giving up three 1st rounders and a 2nd is so massive. Put another way, RG3 is gonna need to lose his job ON THE FIELD, not off it for the Racists to move on from him.

I think you mean sunk cost, not opportunity cost. RG3 has not accomplished anything since his first injury, and one season can be a fluke as much as one game. That said, it is certainly possible that the Redskin front office falls for the sunk cost fallacy and insists on giving RG3 every opportunity to justify the cost.

Dallas is in a somewhat similar position with Mo Claiborne, except Mo isn't a QB and doesn't even have one good year to show. Injuries and bad schemes have hurt him, but he hasn't even proven himself as the 2nd or 3rd best corner on the roster so far.

At this point, the opportunity cost factors in as you can't have everyone out on the field. I don't think Cousins is fantastic, or would even fetch a higher DP, just that demand would be higher in terms of interest. I think Cousins gives the Redskins the best chance to win as the team currently stands. In Dallas, Mo is close to coming off an injury again. Going to be interesting to see if they bench Moore for Claiborne.

Sunk cost is massive hyperbole. He had a great rookie year and an adequate second year, considering he was recovering from a serious injury. I do think injuries are a serious concern because of the way he plays, but it's also not the case that he just suffered a career threatening injury, nor did he suffer an injury related to his prior injuries. However, you're speaking as if he's been Blaine Gabbert on the field, and that just isn't true. I agree that he's overhyped, but he certainly has ability and has respectable accomplishments on the field for a guy just entering his 3rd year. It would be a massive mistake to designate him as a sunk cost before he proves to be such on the field.

As for Cousins, again, I need to see it to believe it. Had some poor preformaces when he started at the end of last season. He'll get his chance over the next few weeks to show what he 's about.

I went to my dad's to watch the game, and he said he chose Tampa in his work's pool. I told him that was a bad idea, but I had no idea it'd turn into that. What the fuck, Lovie? What in the holy fuck?
