NIU Shooting

Woa...lucky break.

It's so selfish and pointless to do stuff like this. Can't imagine how doing something like this could make sense to someone.

im totally numb to this stuff now. we can all expect multiple school shootings a year. its part of our culture now

I'm glad that none of my friends there were in danger.

It's hard to understand why people choose a college for this (aside from the opportunity to shoot lots of people concentrated in one place). It's not like high school where you pretty much have to stay, and many people don't have options. There's very little keeping you from leaving a college that really pisses you off. Institutional elements aren't as pervasive as in high school.

I remember debate on this issue not being super productive last time. I'm sure that in the next few days some new details will come out.

Eventually there will be enough such killers that it will be possible to define the type more accurately.

That's fucking retarded. The guy who did this bought guns completely legally and had background checks done on him and that didn't stop him from killing 6 people. People who go on rampages do not think rationally enough to want to stop if they know someone else might have a gun. All it does is make lethal weapons available to people, and we all know people are horrible and stupid and irrational.

OK, say some nutjob does decide to go on a rampage? What happens then? He gets fucking shot. Two people die at most. And rampages like this, while they do happen, don't happen three or four times a fucking year. So that's 2 or 4 deaths a year compared to this happening three or four times a year with 6 to ten deaths each time. 18-40 deaths.

I'm just talking about things like school shootings.

Another idea is to just install metal detectors at every large public place, from schools to malls. Honestly I think this would be more effective.

However, I still stick by my argument.
