I know, it's terrible I admittedly don't have much prog, other than the essentials..I want more.

When I went through my prog rock phase it got to the point where I would get at least 10 or so albums a week haha. Don't hunt through prog rock anymore that much, ended up digging pretty deep and finished with around 40gb lol. Listened to most of it. Black Bonzo are one of the best contemporary prog rock bands, try if you haven't Anekdoten, Anglagard, Birds and Buildings, Gazpacho, Jeavestone, Morte Macabre, Paatos, Prisma, Trettioariga Kriget and Zombi for example. But yeah the common understanding that the best prog rock is from the 70's is completely true. It's a giant goldmine of amazing music. I dig through psych rock a lot more nowadays.

Bohren & Der Club Of Gore- Dolores, love the new one. Next Bennie Maupin- The Jewel In The Lotus.

^ Yeah I've tried most of those contemporary bands, I'll definitely check out the ones I haven't. I'm only just getting in to my prog phase, so I guess I've come to the genre a little late. Got any 'unknown' prog bands you wish to share? I barely have any pysch rock either, I'll go hunting for some.

I'll look through my library and pick out some that I really like which you mightn't have heard. Älgarnas Trädgård, Antonius Rex, Aphrodite's Child, Artcane, Arzachel, Beggars Opera, Blackwater Park, Captain Beyond, Cressida, Czar, Dr. Z, Earth & Fire, Eclat, Fläsket Brinner, Friendship Time, Gentle Giant, Goblin, Grobschnitt, High Tide, Ibliss, Jacula, Kebnekajse, Leaf Hound, Magma, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Nektar, Premiata Forneria Marconi, Procol Harum, Ramases, Satin Whale, Schicke Führs & Fröhling and Spock's Beard are ones that are jumping out atm lol, there's too much winning in 70's prog rock, oodles of great music.

Vampire Weekend- s/t lol this is rubbish. So much hype about this album, it got fairly well reviewed too . Pretty mediocre, cheesy, repetitive and directionless alt rock. Chucking on Black Bonzo- Sound Of The Apocalypse as that prog talk got me in the mood for them and it will sound so hot after that crap. Next The Allman Brothers Band- Idlewild South.

Vampire Weekend- s/t lol this is rubbish. So much hype about this album, it got fairly well reviewed too . Pretty mediocre, cheesy, repetitive and directionless alt rock. Chucking on Black Bonzo- Sound Of The Apocalypse as that prog talk got me in the mood for them and it will sound so hot after that crap. Next The Allman Brothers Band- Idlewild South.

I gave that album a listen once. I've despised the band ever since.

Thanks dude, it's much appreciated, I'm going on the hunt for them now And agreed on that vampire weekend record, i only got halfway through the 1st song before i deleted the album. That record really fucked me off for some reason, lol.

Just gave TWDY a spin too after seeing Frosties' post. Although I really dig them, I never listened to the s/t many times, but it's indeed really good. Now playing Porcupine Tree - Voyage 34: The Complete Trip. Also, I've listened to 10 full albums today, excluding this one... that's pretty good! Considering I usually pick out random songs / portions of albums I feel like listening to at that moment. Going to try to keep the full-album habit up (well 'try', it's not like it's hard, just should do it more often).

^ Wow! 10? That's probably twice my record! But I'm going to have to start going through the whole listening to albums as a whole thing again. Porcupine Tree really got into it because of how dynamic their albums were as a whole compared to individual songs. It's like how some songs are meant to be sad in a sense because in the big picture, it means something more.

Right now, Oceansize - Everyone Into Position. Not bad. Not excellent, but not bad at all.

Ha, well yeah, I just had to sit here all day working on an assignment. Just popped into me that I should go and listen to whole albums more. Some albums definitely have a bigger picture going on, and Porcupine Tree is indeed a good example.

Everyone Into Position is pretty good, definitely some solid songs on there.
