now reading/watching thread

I really haven't read much of Clive Barker or Poppy Z Brite's work, but it's on my list of authors to check out after I finish the 8 million horror paperbacks I just got. :heh:
i'm seriously the same way. sooo many books and i just always buy more. i'll check out that story in a bit!
and as far as barker and brite go, i haven't really read novels by either of them (edit: i HAVE novels by them, just haven't gotten around to reading them haha) but their short story collections are ace.
poppy z brite - i HIGHLY recommend Wormwood/Swamp Fetus, and also Are You Loathsome Tonight? Wormwood is her first and there's just so much grit and revulsion and beauty in it. Loathsome is a lot more polished and she branches out; not so much the visceral horror and straight-forward ghost/zombie/voodoo stuff but a lot of originality.

clive barker - books of blood!! definitely!! also the inhuman condition and in the flesh, but i own books of blood, whereas i just got the other 2 from the library a while ago. barker can take the elements of a generic ghost story and just turn it into something else entirely. his creativity is boundless and his writing is pretty much flawless as well.

yeah, as you can tell, i can go on FOREVER about books. it's crazy. you're gonna be at powerfest, right? why can i see myself trying to start a drunken literary discussion with you and russell?? hahaha

I surely will be at Powerfest, and yes, I predict this conversation happening also...haha

right now im reading the newest star wars series legacy of the force, the whole series has been good so far, if a little repetitive (you'll understand when you read it) but you've kind of have to have an idea of what has happened in the other previous series to know who some of the people are. i think the furst series i started out with was the jedi academy series, its a good introduction into what happens after the 3rd movie to the point that you can understand whats happened, and then go on from there.

The Jedi Academy, is that one where Luke trains Jacen and Jaina? Cuz, then I've read that. I've also read I, Jedi... one of my favorite SW books.
