I prefer standard tuning, or 1/2 to 1 step down. All of my guitars are all trem equipped, and trying different tuning is a lot of work adjusting (physically as well as mentally) I'm HOPING to put a tremel-no on at least two of my guitars so I can spend more time and make things easier with alternate tunings. Two of my favorite guitar players (Eklundh & Keneally) who use a vast array of tunings have personally convinced me (via discussion & examples) to put aside any bias I have, and do some experimenting. When your personal guitar gods speak to you, you can't help but listen!

Edit: and as Tali says, all that matters is the end result
