Okay, listen to the first 5 seconds of this

Now listen to the intro of Equilibrium - Wurzelbert:

I got about halfway into Rama II and lost interest. I definitely didn't think it was a page turner like the first one was. If you think they are good/get better I'll read them. I have all 4 on my shelf.

Yeah, I thought so... especially when they start the whole colony thing.... I really enjoyed them, but yes, Rama II ain't the pick of the bunch.

I think Prince of Nothing is by someone called Bakker perhaps? I could be wrong...

Stephen Baxter is along the lines of Arthur C Clarke, and has co-written some stuff with him. I'm just enjoying being back into sci-fi for its own sake at the moment. I'm always on the lookout for new stuff though, so if you can recommend any authors I ought to get into that would be cool! :)

Ah yes, you are right. It was R Scott Bakker, I think. I'm not into the Clarke/Asimov style SF so much. Granted that 2001 was probably one of the greatest ones of the 20th century, but other contemporary authors have moved on beyond the rest of those two's catalog of "let's imagine the future" to "let's talk about morality, philosophy, other interesting topics etc- in the future".

RIP Artie Traum. I only got to see him once at a Taylor clinic, but I remmeber him being a truly cool guy, who could play his ass off...

So I've been tossing around the idea of hosting a 90's party. Speaks for itself really, consisting of all 90's music good/bad/funny/one-hit wonder etc... Clothing will be mandated by 90's fashions and whatnot, as will all foods/served beverages, blah blah blah. Being that I'm a child of the 90's i'm not interested in your gaylord 60's/70's acid flashbacks nor your 80's coke/Zack Morris cell phone inspired shit stain ideas. Only suggestions pertaining to the 1990's are needed. Thanks.

the 90's wasn't long enough ago to be 'cool' yet...

Agreed, time has a tendency to 'cool' things up, like stored wine. :p
I really don't see a point from having such parties though.
