A: I guess the question was originally intended for an American, but I'll try my hand at it nonetheless: it is possible to consider the NRA "not bad" because, for instance, one is in favor of laws that allow the common man to buy a gun without having to give countless explanations. Still, this doesn't mean that one likes pushers armed with Uzis or AK-47's; I guess that's what Arch meant with "less guns on the streets". In Italy, I'm not allowed to own a firearm; if I were, I sure wouldn't take it to parties and to relatives' houses to show off, but I would take it with me if I had to go out at night on my own etc. The NRA, as far as I know, claims that people should be allowed to own and use guns for ends that are non-malicious: sports, self-defense, defense of one's property, etc.; I don't think it ever wanted to promote, say, gang violence.
Q: Are guns legal in your country?
