Oh no! Another Non-Metal Thread!

Turns out The Pixies are from Boston even. WTF is wrong with me? I know the name very well...never heard em though,.

edit: looks like Surfer Rosa would rub my scrotum the right way perhaps. besides, its got tits.

I dont know? Which album should I check out first?

You really can't go wrong w/ the Pixies. All are great. Doolittle is probably their most popular album.

I used to listen to a lot of indie stuff, but not as much over past couple years. I'm glad to see you mention Slint. I've recommended that album a couple times here, and I couldn't get anyone to bite.

Jeff Buckley was amazing, and My Bloody Valentine is/was great too, but I know a lot of people are into them. I haven't heard The Shins' new one, but their first two are both quite good. Never really got into Sonic Youth.

Some stuff not mentioned:
Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted
PJ Harvey - Dry
PJ Harvey - Rid of Me
Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand
Guided By Voices - Alien Lanes
Janes Addiction - Nothings Shocking
Radiohead - OK Computer
The Cure - Shit, most anything, but especially Pornography & Disintegration

There's a bunch more if you already know or aren't interested in those. Let me know if you want more info on any.

O.K I listened to a couple songs from the aforementioned bands, Modest Mouse, Jeff Buckley, The Pixies, TwoFags and a Pizza Place, etc. This music frankly bores me to tears and I find myself unable to sit through a song without having an anxiety attack.

mm some nice stuff in your OP. dredg, arcade fire, jeff buckley all good stuff. Check out some Bonnie prince billy (album: i see a darkness) Red house painters (s/t) and as everyone mentioned check out the pixies.

Have you heard the album by Sun Kil Moon that I posted? Its the same guy as in Red House Painters.

Way to give it a chance. lol

Which songs?

Im interested in more info on Two Fags and a Pizza Place.

Bro, trust me when I say that this isn't for moi. If an album/song/whistle/belch has a chance to progressively sound better with time, my first listen is either met with indifference or approval. The songs in which I just subjugated my ears to made me tap my knees together in the same manner as when you have to take a piss, but are out of dick's length of a toilet. I simply couldn't wait for it to end and found it to be a nerve racking experience. Lately, I have been suffering from bouts of violent rage from the most simplest of provocation. For my mental sanctity to remain intact, I had to flee the audiogenic progesterone that was pillaging my primordial fortress of masculinity and run towards a pack of Wolves. Wolves dining on carrion from a kill many winters ago, at a table in the throne room of the high priestess' palace perched high a top Mt. Stygian. FTW!!! And Fuck this!!!

Songs sampled that made me cringe like Susperia's husband on his honeymoon.

Pixies- Debaser
Modest Mouse - Float On
Modest Mouse- Gravity Rides Everything
Jeff Buckley - Grace
TwoFags and a Pizza Place - I kneads to make myself some Dough
TwoFags and a Pizza Place - Dorothy and the Yellow Brick Dutch Oven
