No, that's not upside down (notice where the strap pins are). The body is bad enough, but it's the headstock that really makes me convulse with rage. As to whether this is worse than the V, I can't say, but good god what a bunch of douches...

Haha, dudes. That's probably what people said when the first Explorer or the first BC Rich Warlock etc. came out.

Wait until some famous rockstar plays that and all the kids want it and after a few years it'll be the hot shit.

Not saying that I like it, but it's hardly an extreme deviation from existing guitar styles ... albeit an ugly one :)

Can't they just make normal les paul, sg, v, firebird and explorers? I mean. Dude, they've made at least 10 very, very succesful (in terms of sales) variations of each one of the guitar models I just named. They all still sell very well. Are you fucking kidding me?
Anyway, when was the last time you guys saw a new axe model and gased?

Let's face it, Gibson are a shadow of their former selves. A Gibson today is like an early 90s Epiphone. It's a decent enough guitar, with some occasional shoddy workmanship, but it's priced like a super-premium item, which it clearly isn't.

Probably when I saw the XOX Handle. It's about time someone made a 100% carbon fiber guitar that doesn't look retarded. Might be others, but I'm really over wood guitars.

The body isn't so bad but the meat-fist headstock is hideous. I wish they would focus on making their instruments intonate correctly. If it really is matter of bolstering sales then maybe they should reset their prices to somewhere closer to market value. It's a shame b/c they really have made great instruments over the years and invented 2 of my favorite body styles.

I think that guitar looks retarded actually. ;)
And in all the small clips of the xox that i have seen, they sound really really bad(No sustain or treble.).
They sound kinda like you put a piece of cloth under the strings or something.

Who comes up with this shit!?

I would like to meet the guy that comes up with this stuff.. so i can smack him in the face and demand him to stop being a mongol.

First off, what's with the Zorro the Gay Blade pickguard? I guess I have a warped image association?

Why does Gibson keep trying to make new models? They have the SG, V, Explorer, Les Paul, 335, LP Junior and the 8,000 variations of those they already make that somehow they still manage to sell for over $2000 and they haven't made a descent new design since the MkIII IMO and that was even kinda iffy. Does Fender make up new shit? No, they still have their same 4-5 guitars. They were at least smart enough to buy Jackson and put that name on anything "wild" that failed so they wouldn't soil their rep. 15 years ago I tried to like Gibson but walking into a store and seeing a brand new Les Paul Classic for $2500 and seeing cracked clear coat around the bridge studs, some kind of gunk ( maybe buffing compound? ) caked around the pickup rings and it was heavy and awkward to boot. No thanks... The Parker Fly next to it, flawless masterpiece. I know it's all preference but you gotta recognize some designs for their innovations, intelligent design features and craftsmanship even if they aren't too easy on the eyes. I think Music Man guitars are a good example of great craftsmanship yet they haven't made an exceptional body style yet. However, they have taken existing ones and refined them about as much as they can be refined. Short of a total redesign. Screw marketing and screw that whole 'He's got one and I gotta have one' mentality. Move on people. Evolve. Rocks and sticks were cool back in the day, 100,000 years ago but now we have guns and F-22 jets. Yeah, they all kill shit but if you really wanted to kill, a lot, what would you pick?

/ Rant

Side note: Why do catalogs like AMS and MusiciansFriend bother putting pages of pictures after picture after picture of Les Pauls and Strats that look nearly identical except for pickup configs, neck shapes and finishes, most of which aren't even visually obvious and then only 6 identical guitars from any other company that might have 12 different unique body styles? I know, advertising dollars, sponsorships, etc... It just annoys the hell out of me. Can you tell? In recent years I've come to learn that if you want anything good, you can't just walk into a retail store and get it in most cases. It won't be on AMS or sweetwater.com, the good stuff is hidden like truth and logic in an American government. Them silly white people.

I approve of this rant.

The once exception is that I quite like Sweetwater - the rep they assigned me (back when I originally bought a cheap preamp and a pack of strings without planning to get anything else in the near future... that was unexpected) is pretty badass and has been really helpful.

That guitar is SO nice.

I want to order one so I can rub dog shit all over it and then wrap it in saranwrap & packing tape and send it to Gibson HQ with a note:

DO NOT WANT

So let's see...they took a lefty explorer and outfitted it righty, and that headstock looks suspiciously like the headstock on the notorious 'Moderne'...hmmm.

You know what pick up I think would look best on this? A Ford F-350.

Yuk

They're just trying to make really difficult looking guitars for Paul Gilbert to show off with for his next instructional video. Except they forget that they're not Ibanez...
