Ok then...Why Isn't Opeth your #1 band?

Many of you had opeth at some other top 5 or 10 position.

I was wondering, what keeps them from being that number 1 band amongst your other favorites??

Anything about the band or the music that takes points off of their charts?

nothing about opeth really screams death metal except the harsh vocals and a lot of the drumming. the riffs are too "happy" in a way to be DM. it's like calling ihsahn's solo project a black metal project, because he still uses that harsh vocal style.

The only reason for me is that I don't think Ghost Reveries and Watershed have the same quality as their earlier albums (even though they are good). So if you would have asked me 4 years ago, no doubt Opeth was my favorite band. Now others have passed them in excellency.
