Older Mesa Boogie cabs

Guys,

Are those older Mesa Boogie standard 4x12 cabs (those with the beige grille cloth and british v30s , not the black ones) the same size, oversized, like the currently made? A buddy has one for a nice price an I am thinking if I should pull the trigger.

If the cloth is beige, it's not necessarily "older" but just a custom option. There are older mesa 4x12 cabs but they are Metal grilled and open backed.
