One line (or few) in some lyrics that striked you most and why?

A Perfect Circle - The Noose

But I'm more than just a little curious
How you're planning to go about
Making your amends to the dead
To the dead

Good choice, Cuth. The Noose still makes me shudder down the spine with its ironically evil lyrics

As for me:

"She sent the sun to heal me
She sent the moon to guide me
And when the words failed me
So she lay beside me"

- Primordial, Cities Carved in Stone.

The sky and words are the only thing connecting me and my beloved for now. And I'm feeling romantic.

It's like the song:

Vi är pojkarna som busar
med flickornas små musar

Hahahaha.....I'm glad you don't understand it.

yadda-yadda-yadda, I work for a translation company... I hope I won't get fired if I ask them to translate that as a part of that big medical project...

I'm sorry for drifting a bit off the theme but the song "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" from Led Zeppelin is simply amazing. The lyrics are quite straightforward but Robert Plant's singing is just teh thing. Everytime I hear the song I get goosebumps.

"Babe, baby, baby, I'm Gonna Leave You.
I said baby, you know I'm gonna leave you.
I'll leave you when the summertime,
Leave you when the summer comes a-rollin'
Leave you when the summer comes along.

Baby, baby, I don't wanna leave you,
I ain't jokin' woman, I got to ramble.
Oh, yeah, baby, baby, I believin',
We really got to ramble.
I can hear it callin' me the way it used to do,
I can hear it callin' me back home!

Babe...I'm gonna leave you
Oh, baby, you know, I've really got to leave you
Oh I can hear it callin 'me
I said don't you hear it callin' me the way it used to do?

I know I never never never gonna leave your babe
But I got to go away from this place,
I've got to quit you, yeah
Baby, ooh don't you hear it callin' me?
Woman, woman, I know, I know
It feels good to have you back again
And I know that one day baby, it's really gonna grow, yes it is.
We gonna go walkin' through the park every day.
Come what may, every day

It was really, really good.
You made me happy every single day.
But now... I've got to go away!

Baby, baby, baby, baby
That's when it's callin' me
I said that's when it's callin' me back home... "

Now, to return to metal and lyrics :

"...and as the roaring fire melts away the sadness
The cards of fate are cast to the west
In a last hope for these green lives
Torn from the earth by the fouls
A curse upon the emperors and their mighty delusions
May the polluted wind rightfully melt the wheels of gold;
infect once and for all their corrupted shells
...and let them choke"
uneXpect - Rooted Shadows

This song is just amazing from start to end. uneXpect lyrics are simply mind-bending and the richness of the metaphors can only be matched (and surpassed) by the gods of lyrical artistry, Stanne and Sundin.

I always loved them especially 'cause of his voice, he can transfer emotions from lyrics so good, you really can feel what he sings about...and great song, yes :)

Iced Earth - A Question Of Heaven

"The question that lies within
Is so hard to understand
It still tears at me
And in my dying breath
My heart holds no regrets
I wouldn't change a thing..."

One of songs I heard and loved so much on first listening already...great melody, great voice, great feeling and lyrics.
This part especially because it always remembers me on all unanswered questions from past, why it is past and why I shouldn't regret anything that happened, just learn from it and keep good memories

Here I stand of sound body and foul mind
Composing my manifesto of silence.
A twisted requiem by the mute for the deaf.
A lunatics symphony of absonance
Discordant cadences of a chaotic mind.

It quiets my mind!
Sinful ecstasy feeds my skin!!!!
As I throw my soul away!
Twisted logic of foul play.

- Quo Vadis, Cadences of Absonance

Don't we all have an urge to become morbidly insane? An urge to just do the unspeakable and unthinkable. And its doorstep is closer than I thought...

A play on words, or words on play
Last chapter, verse in the final act
Words well scripted, each sentence choking
Inaudible gag, blanket which suffocates
As you eat another's words
Malnourished, you starve

Silence has a definition
Vocabulary of muted diction
Precise thought to miscomprehend
Ambiguity in high resolution
Articulate expletive fiction
Open to misinterpretation - so precise
(Silence has a definition
A vocabulary of muted diction
Articulate, expletive)

Condensed meaning, making no sense
Open mouth the lines
In stressed expression, understand the silence
The piercing calm, sour music to your ears
As you regurgitate another's words
In their shallowness you drown

A play on words, making no sense

Which makes no sense
Which makes nonsense

"Doctrinal Expletives" from Carcass. All lyrics on Heartwork are close to perfect, but this song is perfect. :worship:

Wretched is my lot here, mirthless is my fate
Alone to face the cruel winters, endure the dreary cold
What is there to hope for, what is there to seek
For this forsaken child, for this forlorn son?
Whose sins am i now atoning for?
Whose lapses am i forced to undo?
So echoes my tune through these darkling shaws
Above the frozen streams resounds my song
Only these sullen trees will hearken to me
Only snow-bound hills ever hear my call
What is there to hope for, what is there to seek
For this forsaken child, for this forlorn son
For this embittered man, for this grim castaway?
Solace i find in the light of the pale moon
My comfort in the night the murmur of the trees
Now i set forth without ever glancing back
It is time to make my own way through the dusk

From Insomnium's Song of the forlorn son. I love those lyrics because i used to feel that way all the time some time ago. Also, they're beautifully written, and some verses/words remind me of how i used to write back then and make my old writings seem not-so-bad. ;)

So, mine: "Hold me near, unravel the stars
As I speed through the heavens
I speed through the night
For you are my blade and my rope
You are my, you are my Lethe…you are my own"
I like this part better:
hold me near, my one friend and guide
as i drown through your fingers
drown through your love
for you are the life that i hate

I don't think I have heard any better part than this one. You should see the face impression of Mikael when he sings that part on The World Domination Essen bootleg.

I've always liked this part from Moonshield aswell, although it's not quarter as good as the part in Lethe, anyway:
Shattered hope became my guide
and grief and pain my friends
