Hey, I can't tell you what to like and don't like but I am certainly not listening to this stupid "advice". If you think we suck now I advice you to move on to something else and get it over with.

Hope you're all well and that stuff. Just got back from Dublin here and I'm knackered...

Cheers peeps!
Mike

Im not trying to run a campaign against your band man, I was just curios about peoples opinions on the album timelines of the past present and future. I liked Ghost Reveries better than Deliverance, I just think some of the stuff on GR is alittle basic for Opeth. Other than that man, I have seen your band live 6 times and I will not miss a show, especially with the crap metal scene here in America.

to me, GR felt like a combination of every album before it, with Per throw in the mix

besides Orchid and Morningrise, each album has had their own distinct sound, GR is no exception, take it for what it is... some of their best music is on it imo... so I don't see how Opeth has shown any indication of running its course... unless this is just another trend of threads in the vein of "(band) has sold out" or "(band) has gone commercial" that'll happen every single time a new album comes out :erk:

thats a good point actually
ironically enough, mike mentionned something about a band (forget the band) and it got blown way out of proportion on blabbermouth

I haven't been disappointed by Opeth yet so I see no reason to think that they have run their course. After GR I can't wait to get more Opeth. Fucking killer album.

You really think so?

Blackwater Park clipped on more stereo system for me than I'd care to remember. It's obviously over-compressed... all the dynamics are shattered. Ghost Reveries is a fantastic recording, combining both the modern qualities of metal releases, to stay competitive with the rest, and the natural sounds to stay true to what Opeth are.

Just my 2c anyway.

Blackwater Park sounds nicer to me- just the sound of the instruments and those insanly nice SW harmonies. It IS horribly overcompressed, but I'd say thats a fault of mastering, not Steven Wilsons doing.
