Has Opeth Created Its Own Cliche?

Argh... This thread got ruined the second I read CaptainQuark's post. I think most of you have made valid points. Opeth has been really formulistic since MAYH, even Orchid and Morningrise still seem to be unpredictable at times. I'm not expecting Opeth to put out another Morningrise or Orchid but maybe the "incohesive" songwriting in these albums seemed to make these albums abit more unpredictable and more epic to me.

All we can do is wait and see how Mikael writes the new album. As some people have said, evolution in songwriting should be a high priority and Mikael has said that the new album will include some interesting elements.
