trying to challenge opeth at their own style makes no sense...by doing so, a band would automatically loose...as far as the act of doing something with such a unique, and beautiful vibe, (genre excluded), i'd say its being done right now...as far as a favorite goes, its all a matter of taste...imo, the mars volta is in the same league as opeth...those guys have got it going on....i think steve wilson described them as ambitious. (along with his own band, opeth, and radiohead) i think that is a good word. they are coming right from the heart...no expectations, just music...thats what opeth is about too.
