Anybody here hungry? Let's talk about food and share some recipes if you got them.

Early this year, I was watching the Travel Channel and I discovered something tasty while Food Paradise was on. After months of procrastinating, I cooked some yesterday morning and I couldn't believe how much better it is than plain bacon. :kickass: You guys should try this at home.

Chicken Fried Bacon Recipe

Today, I had lunch at Pepper Lunch, a well-known Japanese fast food steakhouse. What makes this place unique is that you pretty much cook the food you order. Your meal is prepared raw on a sizzling hot plate, so you cook the meat, rice and veggies for as long as the plate is still hot, then you mix in the special sauces. I started cheap, so I got the Curry Beef Pepper Rice meal. Damn, this stuff's good! Next time, I'm gonna go for their specialty Pepper Steak.

I did some research, and there's actually a Pepper Lunch in the U.S. - if you're willing to drive all the way to Milpitas, CA...

Pepper Lunch - How to Sizzle

Yummy! This looks good! A meal in about a minute and a half! :headbang:
This reminds me a lot of a place a dear friend took Mark and I when we were visiting in Japan several years ago. I just love Japanese food! Hell, I love almost any food.

Coming up on today's menu: a delicacy known by many Filipinos as an aphrodisiac.

BTW, those who have cable or satellite TV should watch Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern on the Travel Channel. It's an awesome show.

Here's some of what the family had during New Year's:

paella.jpg

Paella - A traditional Spanish dish, somewhat comparable to Louisiana's Jambalaya.

I forgot what this dish was called, but like the Paella, my allergies prevented me from trying it.

Of course, you can't have a New Year's party without cake. The blue one is Ube cake.

And now, for something to wash it all down.

Linda, have you tried this brand?

My dad tells me this costs over $100 a bottle. Unlike other whiskeys, this one goes down smooth like water.

I gotta tell you, my dad has taste when it comes to booze. Since his diabetic reading is off the scale nowadays, he can't drink most of this stuff anymore; so on occasions, he hands out bottles to me, my brother and his classmates. Anyone here wanna drink with me?:kickass:

In honour of Burns night, it just had to be haggis and tatties!!! As we would say here, "pure gallus, so it was!"

I love Burns poems! Tae A Louse is my favourite. Here is Scottish actress Dawn Steele reciting it - can anyone understand it??? When I was in primary school, I used to reguarly win the award for best recital for doing Burns. I know I definately won when I did this one. :D

I just love the line "O' wad the power the gift tae gie us, tae see oorsels as ithers see us."

Here's tonight's special:

pritchon01.jpg

Pritchon (Fried Lechon)

Unlike the traditional lechon, which is roasted pig, Pritchon is a deep-fried piglet. The skin is crunchy, yet easier on the teeth. The meat melts in your mouth and is not greasy like its bigger sibling.

The chef makes several precise cuts to the skin. After peeling off the skin, he chops it into smaller pieces. Then he takes the meat and chops it together with the skin. The meat and skin are then wrapped in small pita wedges and rolled. The Pritchon is served with the traditional liver sauce and six other sauces to choose from.

Bon Appetit!

Sorry, Linda and Jenna. I didn't mean to make anyone uncomfortable about my country's cuisine. This particular one is something my family doesn't eat on a regular basis, as it's $100, and my cousin visiting from L.A. insisted on having it before flying back.
