I hate the Eskimos coach.
8 seconds left in the first half. Esks down by 3 points. Esks have the ball on the 12 yard line. Long drawn out play that ends in the Esks running out the clock while missing a pass to the end zone. 0 points to show for it, when they had a field goal guaranteed at minimum. Go in to the dressing room down 3 points, when we could have been tied.
2 minutes left in the second half. Esks down by 5 points. 3rd and goal on the one yard line. A touchdown would put us in the lead. Brilliant coaching decides to kick a field goal instead.
The Bombers kick a field goal to go back up by 5 points, but miraculously hand the game to the Esks by fumbling the football on their 15 yard line, allowing the Esks to score a touchdown with 15 seconds left. A 2 point conversion, and the Esks are up by a full field goal with only 15 seconds left, then pin the Bombers on their 10 yard line with the ensuing kickoff. One blocked pass, now there are 4 seconds left in the game, Esks up by 3 points (could of been up by 7 if we'd gone for it on 3rd and 1 from the 1 2 minutes earlier, or been up by 6if we'd taken the guaranteed field goal at the end of the first half,or been up by 10 if we'd done both of the smart plays).
So what does the coach decide to do with the Bombers 2nd and 10 on their own 10 yard line, down 3 points with 4 seconds left in the game? Any smart coach would have done anything to prevent the long ball. Maciocia, however, quite possibly the dumbest football coach ever, decides to blitz and cover the short pass, leaving the Bomber wide receiver open for a 100-yard touchdown on the last play of the game.
The Bombers, by the way, should be the worst team in the league. However, despite the Esks having the highest payroll in the league, and the highest passer in the league, have scored the fewest points in the league, have now lost twice to the Bombers by a total of 40 points, and have the second worst record in the league.
My hats off to our wonderful coaching staff. I am so impressed.
