Paradise Lost on Amazon.com

okay, so I went to our all knowing source of wisdom (aka Wikipedia) to get my bearings straight.

The one I am playing now (with cecil and kain, etc.) is FFII in the US, but was originally IV in japan. It was called IV in the US when it was re-released on Playstation.

The other one I was talking about was in fact FFV, at least in the US.

We need some sort of Treaty between the US and Japan to agree on a naming system for the FF series.

I don't believe there was a 5 in the US. There was ff1 on nes, 2 on SNES (which was 5 in japan), 3 on snes (which was 6 in japan), then we skipped ahead to 7 to stop the madness.

Chrono Trigger is amazing. Why didn't you like 12?

12 was too much of an MMO for me. I've played all the big-name MMOs and I like playing them, but when I play a FF...I want FF; not an MMO.

you guys should make a games thread or something :P personally I prefer PC classics like Fallout and Baldur's Gate over the FF games, but I really liked 7 and 9.

Agreed. Game thread inc. soon :)

it was released in that "Final Fantasy: Anthology" set that came out for playstation back in '99-ish. I think II was actually IV in japan.

PrgrsveMetalnChains: Agreed....after playing through ChronoTrigger I regret that I didn't play it a lot sooner. I did try to get into Chrono Cross a few years back but it just didn't snag me...I think I'm going to try to find a used copy and give it another go.

I gotta say I'm a big fan of ff9...

but, then, I love each of them for their own reasons. lol...it's sad that ff was such a big part of my life as a kid/teen

Breath of Fire 3 was so huge to me, I played that game when I was 10 or 11 I think and the story was just so amazing to me, it made me emotional in lots of places actually.
And then theres Suikoden 2 ! Suikoden 2 was so so good. The story was incredible and so emotional, and the fighting system was kick ass !! 6 people at a time with up too 108 people to play with ! It took me about 5 game plays to find them all, and then I realized I had to have a save from Suikoden 1 to unlock 2 more people, that was gay, but I still love that game and it's my favorite rpg.
Xenogears is actually getting really good now, I'm 14 hours into the game and the story is getting deeper and deeper.. we'll have to wait and see if this game is amazing !
I've played 4 hours of Final Fantasy 7 and I'm liking it, and I've played FF3 ( 6 in Japan ) for about 2 hours and its amazing haha. I love the moogles at the beginning when they come to help you, and later on theres small jokes everywhere, it's pretty cool.
I've played Chrono Trigger, and I got really far in it, but then I just stopped or I don't remember what happened.. but I didn't finish it

you don't finish games do you?

You know, its actually funny that you say that, cause a lot of times I don't finish games.. I play and play and play, and then I just stop, the most recent being Okami on the Playstation 2, I havent' finished it, but I'm 16 hours into the game, and I haven't finished many RPG games. In fact, I played Breath of Fire 3 at 11 and didn't finish it, and last year when I got a playstation emulator for the PC, I popped in the CD and finally beat it. Suikoden 2 was the first rpg I beat at age 13.
So yeah, I really don't finish games lol

Guys... this thread is now about Final Fantasy. Keep up.

It shouldn't be anymore though. I actually made a gaming thread dedicated to well...games. So all gaming related material should be posted there from now on so everyone can keep on topic.

On that note...#41 guys!! Keep it up! We've passed up The Police, Fergie, and Rush!! GOGOGO!

me either. I always got them as hand-me-downs or roms. Fucken fine by me. And back to chrono trigger, hands down one of the best games ever made.

amen. Chrono Trigger is t3h pwnz0r

Ever played Chrono Cross? I tried once and got bored really quick, but I think I'm going to give it another go given my recently acquired love of Chrono Trigger.
