SX and Paradise Lost = Satanic ??

That reminds me of a conversation my guitarist and I had with 5 or 6 random-ass people in a gas station at shortly after 2 am. Everyone was S-bombed and getting some post-drinking munchies on. Somehow the topic of Geddy Lee vs Jesus came up. It was decided that not only was Geddy Lee a better bassist than Jesus, but even if Jesus could play some mad bass, there's no way he could play and sing falsetto like Geddy Lee.

The golden thing about it was everyone in the gas station (all 8 people or so total) were in 100% agreement that Geddy Lee was better at singing/playing bass than Jesus.

Read the deviations on the topic at hand, and the topic itself, ehehe. Yup, I certainly don't think the Symphony X is Satanic. Hell, I don't even think of Mayhem, Burzum, Bathory, Dimmu Borgir, Gorgoroth (at least, after Infernus left) or any other black metal group is Satanic.

A question though: what do you guys think of Dragon Rouge, that cult whose founder, Thomas Karlsson, wrote/inspired most of Swedish metal group Therion's work(from Lepaca Kliffoth onward) ?

So much wrong here. Bathory and Burzum were never Satanic bands. Varg is an atheist who believes in the philosophy and culture of the Norse Gods. Dimmu Borgir never admitted to having any particular religious affiliation (they've knocked Christianity a few times but that doesn't make them Satanic either. Rotting Christ has done the same but they are open atheists). Gorgoroth are LaVeyan Satanists because they believe that they are their own gods. The only "Satanic" member of Mayhem was Euronymous and he's dead now.

You must be kidding about the "no other black metal" comment. There are black metal bands that preach Satanism (in every form), National Socialism, etc and strongly believe in everything preached. IMO, it shouldn't be held against them if you disagree with their ideas, but 90% of the time that kind of black metal sucks ass anyways.

Dragon Rouge is not a "cult". That word always makes me laugh because if you're going to call a particular belief system a cult, you'd have to include Judeo-Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and every other religion known to man as well, which I (an atheist, but someone with a general interest in religion) refuse to do.

Not that I like BM anyway. Sorry for the labels, especially on Dragon Rouge. Guess I need to shake off that "mainstream sheep" tack that I still have at times, admittedly.

And...yeah, I forgot about Euronymous. :)

their head it totally in the wrong place
also
looks like "look at me, Im one sick mother fucker" attention whoring to me
but whatever I have what I like, good clean fun American progressive metal, the Scandies can have their "dark" metal thing but its pointless on me. I'd sooner be stuck in a room full of TV preachers because I prefer good standup comedy
