this cd has no where near the energy that horizons or kill em with a smile had, sure maybe those cds sound better but the song writting is soo much sicker in the older stuff i mean where are the catchy breakdowns that parkway is known for? seriously this cd isn't catchy from what its sounding like

Just listened to a radio interview with them. This time, as they have said in the video, they are recording pretty much everything the way it sounds on the album. This also means that the drums aren't quantized (which I could tell when listening to the new songs on the radio). I actually quite like the vibe but I agree that the energy and especially catchy'ness just aren't there. I love the sound though; from listening to the radio. In those youtube vids though, the mix doesn't sound right I do agree. But radio sounded fine, even though the radio doesn't have as much quality.

SO... my mate got the cd today as australian preorderers got it early for some reason... he sent the songs to me, and it's so much better than the myspace etc. made it out to be. i still dont like it as much as horizons, and i can hear clipping a few times. it's not very consistant, sometimes it gets a bit too loud compared to the rest of the cd. songs arent as catchy. hopefully the next one is like a combination of this one and horizons

I listened to the whole thing today and meh... To both the production and the songs. When I was listening in car it felt like it was just kick and vocals. The guitars are just way too low. Sucks I really liked their older stuff and had high hopes for this record

The guitar tone is definitely a little weak.

I believe there is a pretty decent tail to the kick. It is pretty natural sounding for a kick, and I like it, but it;s not my favorite.

The music isn't anything special at all.

Very average overall. I don't think the "big producer" vibe did or helped anything. Sticking with Adam may have even kept that aggression alive...

I think this is probably a prime example about why getting over-enthusiastic and ahead of yourself can really come back to bite you. Let the end product speak for itself, eh.

A producer/engineer isn't going to ruin a record or stop a band from moving forward. A good song will shine through whether is is recorded by a decent or outstanding engineer, as long as the song and performances are THERE in the first place.

There are many projects out there that have shitty recordings and great songs, as well as horrible songs with great production.
