Took me a while to finally contribute but now that I'm actually allowed to play around at the studio I work at, I figured I'd record some nice snare samples. The set up may seem a little strange but I like the way these turned out.
These are multi's of a Pearl Maple Piccolo with Remo heads. Suprisingly, it's pretty thick for a piccolo. Doesn't seem like it's tuned that high but I like tight, snappy snares.
Top Mic was a Groove Tube into a Langevin Dual Vocal Combo Preamp with very very slight compression and the bottom mic was a Rode NT5. These need to be time aligned/phase adjusted and with a little processing, these sit perfectly in the mix. Enjoy!
