Pie vs Cake

Cake takes the cake. If pie was better, the saying would be "... takes the pie". But no. The only saying pie has is, "easy as pie". So pie is easy, cake is the winner. Simple math.

Yeah, I considered that. It does imply "easy". But still, that just puts cake and pie on an even playing field, but "takes the cake" is what catapulted cake into its obvious superior position.

The American perception of what cake is always ends up tasting like frosting. Which is mostly hydrogenated oil. And I don't really enjoy frosting that much, especially on cupcakes, where the mass of the frosting piled on top of the cake often exceeds the mass of the cake. Bleh.

I prefer pie. Never had a piece I didn't enjoy.

I do like pie too. But I think the best cake that I can imagine would be better than the best pie I could imagine...unless you start adding meat. Then pie would win.
