Completely agreed. October Rust is one of the greatest albums ever, no other band has ever come close to their sound. I absolutely love his bass tone and how most of the songs are entirely bass driven (the guitar tends to play tiny reverbed chords over the massive bass rhythm). Love You to Death, Red Water, Die With Me, Burnt Flowers Fallen, In Praise of Bacchus, Wolf Moon, and Haunted are all 10/10 songs imo. Porcupine Tree is good and all but have never produced anything half as good as this album, unless some of their pre-signify material is really amazing (I've heard Signify and EVERYTHING after, including Recordings and quite a few various b-sides from in absentia/deadwing, so I don't dismiss them offhand or anything). However, I don't really like TON's other albums very much (besides World Coming Down) while Porcupine Tree has several good ones. Still, October Rust gives them the edge.

And yes I agree on the part about comparing apples to asparagus. What the hell?

What an unusual comparison ????

TON has always been amongst my fav's. Lately they've fallen down my playlist.

Last time I saw them was quite disappointing. Peter kept staring at his watch & didn't have the passion of previous yrs.

I'm pretty new to PT, but I do like them alot.

As far as comparing the two, I'd pick TON.

My 1st TON show was an unbelievable time. I puked all over the Avalon & had to be carried out. Then I puked up & down landsdowne street. Great Times !!!

I miss those days.
