it still sounds good. Maybe if you lower the .db of the 12k and 14k frequencies, the cymbals might sound better. I tried it on winamp and it doesn't hurt my ears as much.

Niel, you probably wanna take down those rhythm guitars by a few dB. They're way too loud - it sounds like the HM pedal compresses the living daylightful shit out of the tone, so it's constantly up there. Bloodbath syndrome I guess, hah.

But overall its a pretty brutal mix man, I'm definately impressed. Nice take on the solo too. Maybe you'd wanna consider adding a bit more humanization to the blast beat parts? I know the whole mechanical thing is all the rage for Grind/Death etc. but it would add a bit more dimension to the recording if the hits sounded more varied.

Yeah brickwalling the whole mix can really even out your levels for you. I've found a few shit mixes I had sounded instantly better after I slammed the living shit out of them during mastering.

EDIT: Definately looking forward to the completed version, and the upcoming Emperor cover.

to be honest Protected Witness.. your covers are fucking excellent! I really like the guitar sounds you've achieved and the vocals are excellent.. although i think they're too echoed.. especially on the april ethereal cover.. what did you use to record these (what recording programme or multi track, mics or straight in etc..) because, bar the drums, it's how i would imagine my songs sounding.. congratulations on your covers though. my personal faves

The only one I spent much time on was "ending" which is a sample of the first song on the album. The last 2:30 seconds actually, hence the name ending. Wankfest has some good salvageable riffs but the drums are pretty haphazard and it doesn't really work as a whole. The last one I did in 3 hours after listening to camel all day. I don't have the best voice so thankfully it's mostly just me improvising on guitar. I actually recorded my amp on that one instead of the vamp. Clean guitar with verb is pretty much the only thing that amp(peavey bandit) is good for I think.

I'll post a new song sometime soon. Waiting on Tim to do his vocals.
