PP USA X: Major roster changes

Glenn, it's not cool that you have to go through this crap. But it's no problem for me as a fan of the festival. I expect the unexpected, and you filled the slots nicely. :headbang:

Hang in there bro!
:kickass:

I'm only really bummed about Vanden Plas but damn if the whole process doesn't just suck. Nothing you can really do about so fickle a system.
I look forward to seeing MindFlow and good luck to Shane on getting his replacement.

Note to Shane:
Edguy is just a short plane ride away. Hint hint... :)

This ;)

And on the note of possible replacements here's another idea:

Pain of fucking Salvation!

Surely they have their visa situation taken care of by now? They'd be the best possible replacement for Vanden Plas in my eyes.

Wow! What a load of crap to go through! Every year at that! Sorry that it didn't work out this time, but from the overwhelming sound of support coming from the forum, it is apparent that people understand the nature of the situation! Kudos to you for putting up with this bureaucracy year after year and for filling those slots so quickly! We played the same night as Crimson Glory at BAR Fest and I those guys did put on a hell of a show!

Also, I don't have to read those articles to know how big an issue it is, I had my own recent experience with looking into the process (except for an American band to play in Europe) and I was thoroughly confused and dismayed at how scattered the info was, the associated costs, and the time required. What a truly f**ked up system. :-(

Visas aren't the issue with PoS, money is. That is the reason they (as well as Beardfish) had to give up a primo slot on the Progressive Nation tour with DT. They just couldn't afford to foot the bill to come over here and play without the support of their label (that is going bankrupt).

With that said, I'd love to see them again! :headbang:

My suggestions for A VP replacent:

Raintime / Freak Kitchen (new album coming) / Volbeat / Amorphis

Here's to just hoping it's a homerun replacement!!!!!!

Exactly my point, surely bringing in 5 guys from Sweden can't be that much more expensive than bringing in 5 guys from Germany, right?

Stunned. Just don't understand why? Clearly not the fault of GH and the festival, just why are the arrogant powers that be making these decisions? It makes no sense. I'm devastated. Thanks for trying, Glenn, and for a great comeback. I just wonder what we can do to address this asinine policy.

First off, as someone pointed out, the local House Of Representative congressman / woman is the first person you should go to. Easier said than done, I know, but they really do have staffers who's sole job is to handle these types of things. They love the publicity and the guaranteed votes of local Atlanta metalheads.

Second, would be cool to have Pain Of Salvation play instead of VP. Or even Nevermore as someone pointed out. Both would be killer replacements. Booking them on short notice might not be as easy though...

In any case, the replacements sounds pretty amazing. I can't wait!!!!

edit: I don't know how many fans are out there, but O.S.I. just released a new record. They'd be a killer replacement for VP, for me at least.

Please no Pain Of Salvation, I never want to sit through that ever again. I tried listening to their cd's, just cannot get into them.

Wow. I'll sleep better at night knowing that our country can keep heavy metal bands out better than they can terrorists.

You mean O-change-ama hasn't addressed the immigration situation? Oh well...he hasn't addressed anything yet. Oops l forgot...Andre wouldn't get to vote...nevermind.

Sucks losing VP no doubt. Good job jumping on the situation quickly. l'll leave the replacement choices alone.

well, I guess some of my most anticipated concerts of 2009 seemed too good to be true I suppose.

Pain of Salvation (record label w/ Progressive Nation)
The Dear Hunter (7/2/09 getting food poisoning the night before the St.Paul, MN show opening for mewithoutYou)
Kiss Kiss (7/10/09 having a band member get sick 2 days before opening for Fake Problems)
Andre Matos (Visas)

maybe next year. Thanks for your efforts Glenn. I know it's not your or the band's faults. It still hurts..all of these do, but perhaps Andre the most given it's been a 12 year wait for myself. Maybe 13 years will be the lucky wait-amount?

Sucks when bad things happen to good people and you have shown how much you care for the music scene, including the business and the fanbases of many different genres- the history of the festival is testament enough for that. I look forward to blind buying my tickets to progpower each year no matter what the roster, and I know many others do just as much if not more. Hope you know that you always have our support Glenn and we hope you keep doing this successfully for as long as possible! Thanks for the honesty! \m/
