why do all people think of RME as the holy-grail?
IMO they are rock solid but there are some other stuff out there which tops the RME in a lot of ways. Like metric halo and apogee.

He said mid-range. There's a huge price difference if you want the same amount of I/O with Apogee or MH.

FXpansion pisses me off more than AVID. the vst wrapper is so half-assed I want to smack them.

You will actually find that most of the issues with our wrapper are down to dev's not coding their plugins to spec. :Spin:

And just food for thought: Avid have a history of ending support for products mid-cycle. I would not be surprised if Pro Tools 9.1 dropped support for some of their older hardware... like the older DSP powered units for instance.

If I were in the market... I'd be running very far away from 2nd hand Pro Tools setups, because they'll eventually just end up in the corner collecting dust.

And give me a decent looking plugin interface
