20 years of uniting the powers of metal
ANNOUNCEMENT:
We're very happy to announce that this year's installment of PROGPOWER SCANDINAVIA will take place on September 25th/26th at VEGA, the premium rock venue in Copenhagen, Denmark.

VENUE:
Our reasons behind moving away from The Rock and to Vega are that we want to provide a near-perfect festival in a great sounding environment with all the possible benefits for the performing artists. While The Rock has been extremely kind to us in our first 2 years of existence, we've also become aware of the problems by using that venue: the capacity only holds 600 people compared to the 1.500 (1.100 without the balcony) in Vega, the backstage area at The Rock doesn't live up to a full two-day festival with 10 bands running through the backstage rooms all the time, and also we feel that for a festival this size, we do need the best possible sound and light to please your ears and eyes with. Vega lives up to the criteria we have set for the festival at this point in time.

With that said, we do appreciate the great support The Rock has been giving us, and we're currently planning both a pre-party AND after-parties to be held at The Rock.

BANDS 2009:

Ever since the first ProgPower Scandinavia we've been trying to get these guys as headliner, and now it's finally time for them to play at our festival: PRETTY MAIDS. As you probably know they are Denmark's longest living and hardest kicking heavy metal band, with an impressive release list of more than 15 albums in 25 years. From the old school metal days of "Red Hot & Heavy" and "Future World" to their modernized hard rock sound of later albums such as "Planet Panic" and "Wake Up The Real World", Pretty Maids have always delivered first rate rock'n'roll on albums as well as on stage. Their live shows are among the very finest in the business, and it makes us really proud to be able to have these guys headline at ProgPower Scandinavia 2009.

Do you want a true old school power metal band? Well, look no further - here's IRON FIRE. Five albums into their career and Denmark's Iron Fire is quickly becoming a household name on the power metal circuit. Fronted by the energetic Martin Steene, the 5 Danes will be sure to show their home-audience how to have a good time

ANNOUNCEMENT:

Here are the next two bands for PROGPOWER SCANDINAVIA 2009:

MERCENARY is without any doubt one of Denmark's finest heavy metal bands, and further introduction almost seems unnecessary! But, for those that have been hiding under a rock for the last 10 years, let's just say that you won't make any mistake by checking out this extremely talented band, who are able to combine melo-death metal with powerful songs and technical abilities. Their live performance is a punch in the face that will leave you jaw-dropped, drooling, sweating and wanting more as soon as possible. There's a reason Mercenary has established themselves as one of the biggest heavy metal bands ever emerging from Denmark, and that reason can be witnessed on ProgPower Scandinavia 2009 in September.

If you say LOCH VOSTOK, you also say Avantgarde Melodic Progressive Death Metal. In Danish we have a saying: "a cute child is known by its many names", and did this saying ever have any relevance, then it sure has to be as a description of the Swedish band Loch Vostok. The band is hard to define within one genre, simply because they keep pushing the borders of all metal genres, and they do it so damn close to perfection. Throughout the years Loch Vostok has played several gigs in Copenhagen, in fact more than in their own home country, so with their 3rd album, "Reveal No Secrets", to be released in the spring, ProgPower Scandinavia could not only be sort of a "home-coming" for the band, but also a celebration of their musical endeavours and all things progressive.

The Loch Vostok announcement really got my attention. Would love to see them live. Now, if the fest just would have been on the other side of Öresund I absolutely would have made the hike...

Great Job you all!!!!:headbang:

Pretty Maids is a great choice for the headliner! :headbang: I checked out Iron Fire for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it's a no brainer for me. I'm looking forward to the rest of the annoucements. :kickass:

We're hereby announcing the next band for PROGPOWER SCANDINAVIA 2009:

FREAK KITCHEN is more than just another "heavy metal band" - Freak Kitchen is an experience!!! With a high-octane live show, these three Swedes take the audience through a blietzkrieg flash of rock, fusion, metal, jazz and prog, all held together by extreme musicianship. They are a band not afraid to laugh at themselves while delivering some of the most incredible music ever to grace ProgPower Scandinavia.
