We can now announce the next band for PROGPOWER SCANDINAVIA 2009:

PATHOSRAY from Italy will open up ProgPower Scandinavia. The band is a true progressive metal band leaning heavily on the sound that Dream Theater and Symphony X made famous, but adding their own edge of both melody and power. The band has already performed to great accolades at both ProgPower USA and ProgPower Holland, and we found it about time to let the band play in Denmark as well. Their second album, "Sunless Skies", will be released worldwide in May 2009 by Frontiers Records, with a Japanese release through Soundholic Records already in April 2009.

Be it known that I will hate you for going to this... :heh: (purely out of envy!)
Unless I hit Powerball or Megamillions, my travel budget is shot this year.
We'll have to arrange something "special" for your b-day, I guess we can discuss this in few months... :Smokedev:

We are proud to announce the PROGPOWER SCANDINAVIA 2009 PREPARTY event:

In true ProgPower fashion, as witnessed on both PP Europe and PP USA, we have decided to throw a pre-party on Thursday September 24th. This will be a chance for those fans already in town to have a little get-together the day before the big show. The event will be a three band evening at The Rock (our location for the 2 previous years of ProgPower Scandinavia). We have booked three bands that represents the very essence of the words "prog" and "power".

The event will open with Norwegian newcomer band LEPROUS (www.leprous.net). This band manages to combine ferocious black metal with melodic heavy metal, old school prog-rock and elements of the melo-death scene. Imagine a mixture of Opeth, King Crimson, Arcturus, Dream Theater, Van der Graaf Generator, Iron Maiden and Pink Floyd and you are somewhere close to the sound of these young Norwegian guys.

Second band of the evening will be French power metallers FAIRYLAND (www.fairyland-metal.com). The band, led by songwriter/keyboardist Philippe Giordana (and backed up by a host of guest-musicians a.o. from Italian band Pathosray) will release their third album "Score To A New Beginning" next month and it is a wonderful epic sounding album that easily should appeal to fans of Blind Guardian, Rhapsody and Symphony X.

As headliner of the evening we've booked Danish power-prog sensation ANUBIS GATE (www.anubisgate.com). Their 4th album, "The Detached", is right now creating rave reviews all around the World with its mixture of technical progressive metal and more laid-back heavy metal. This is a band that is able to combine the elements of Dream Theater, Crimson Glory, Fates Warning and Queensryche into an even and flowing sound. Featuring world-renowned producer Jacob Hansen (VolBeat, Mercenary, Destruction etc) on vocals, the band is easily only one of Denmark's finest exponents of progressive metal.
