PROGPOWER SCANDINAVIA 2009

We can now announce the last two bands for PROGPOWER SCANDINAVIA 2009:

Friday night's 3rd band will be Holland's TEXTURES (www.texturesband.com). With their unique blend of modern-styled metalcore, aggressive death / thrash and technical progressive metal, this band will be a very welcomed addition to this years line-up. Baring resemblance to such bands as Opeth, Dillinger Escape Plan and Meshuggah, there's no doubt that Textures will bring a very original sound to the ProgPower stage.

The 3rd band on Saturday night will be coming all the way from Australia; EYEFEAR (www.eyefear.com)! Led by vocalist extra-ordinaire Danny Cecati, Eyefear displays a wonderful mixture of melodic heavy/power metal and a nice touch of atmospheric prog-metal, not unlike the style of Evergrey or Fates Warning. We're truly happy to be the first festival in Europe to bring these guys over, and we are sure they will deliver a fantastic show at ProgPower Scandinavia.

With these two bands in place, we now have the entire line-up ready:

Glenn,
Have you given thought about doing this yourself for Progpower USA seeing how Coke and Jack Daniels are American companies and basically in Atlanta's backyard (well ATL and Tenn)???

ANNOUNCEMENT:
We're very happy to announce that this year's installment of PROGPOWER SCANDINAVIA will take place on September 25th/26th at VEGA, the premium rock venue in Copenhagen, Denmark.

www.vega.dk

VENUE:
Our reasons behind moving away from The Rock and to Vega are that we want to provide a near-perfect festival in a great sounding environment with all the possible benefits for the performing artists. While The Rock has been extremely kind to us in our first 2 years of existence, we've also become aware of the problems by using that venue: the capacity only holds 600 people compared to the 1.500 (1.100 without the balcony) in Vega, the backstage area at The Rock doesn't live up to a full two-day festival with 10 bands running through the backstage rooms all the time, and also we feel that for a festival this size, we do need the best possible sound and light to please your ears and eyes with. Vega lives up to the criteria we have set for the festival at this point in time.

With that said, we do appreciate the great support The Rock has been giving us, and we're currently planning both a pre-party AND after-parties to be held at The Rock.

BANDS 2009:

Ever since the first ProgPower Scandinavia we've been trying to get these guys as headliner, and now it's finally time for them to play at our festival: PRETTY MAIDS. As you probably know they are Denmark's longest living and hardest kicking heavy metal band, with an impressive release list of more than 15 albums in 25 years. From the old school metal days of "Red Hot & Heavy" and "Future World" to their modernized hard rock sound of later albums such as "Planet Panic" and "Wake Up The Real World", Pretty Maids have always delivered first rate rock'n'roll on albums as well as on stage. Their live shows are among the very finest in the business, and it makes us really proud to be able to have these guys headline at ProgPower Scandinavia 2009.

Do you want a true old school power metal band? Well, look no further - here's IRON FIRE. Five albums into their career and Denmark's Iron Fire is quickly becoming a household name on the power metal circuit. Fronted by the energetic Martin Steene, the 5 Danes will be sure to show their home-audience how to have a good time
www.ironfire.dk

There will be 10 bands performing over two days (plus an additional 3 bands at the pre-party) - More band announcements coming next week ...

TICKETS:
Within a few weeks we should be able to give you more information on when tickets go onsale.

Anubis Gate playing the pre-party?
Cmon, we need these guys over HERE!

Wow... that is a really bad ass lineup. Features three of my favorite discoveries of the last year; Eyefear, Pathosray and Fairyland. If it wasn't on the heels of a major work project, I'd definitely go.

CHANGE IN LINE-UP!!!

It is with sad minds that we have to announce the cancellation of EYEFEAR's performance at this year's ProgPower Scandinavia. The band was set to play as the 3rd band on Saturday, 26th of September at the festival. However, due to financial crisis, increase of travelling prices, lack of an otherwise-already-promised government funding and several other reasons, the band has to cancel for 2009. We, the ProgPower Scandinavia team have provided the band with a standing invitation to perform at next year's event, so we cross our fingers and hope that times will get better.

We're very proud to let you know that Danish power-thrash metal band MANTICORA (www.manticora.dk) will be stepping in to fill the empty 3rd slot on Saturday the 26th. Manticora just returned from a European tour with Circle II Circle, and have over the past 10 years delivered 6 high quality heavy metal albums, borderlining somewhere between classic thrash metal and a more modernized form of power metal. We know that the band has a lot of fans in Copenhagen already, and we're looking forward to letting the ProgPower Scandinavia audience get a good glimpse of this awesome band.

Tickets are now available at www.billetlugen.dk.
