I own a dual 2mhz g5, MacBook and a bla modded digi002. I usually track on the g5 and mix on the MacBook so I can run newer plugins. I am thinking about getting a new Macpro and upgrading to an HD system. My qestions are:

should I buy macpro and continue using the modded 002 or save up for the pcie cards and interface?

Should I forget the macpro and buy pcix cards for my g5?

Or should I buy a macpro then upgrade to pt9 and either keep the modded 002 or go with a non avid interface route?

I'm looking for the most cost effective upgrade and to be able to continue using pt.

Any input would be awesome!

Question:

Do you want to use your system mostly for tracking or for mixing?

Do you need massive I/O for tracking (more than 64)?
Do you need multiple cue mix with really low latency monitoring while tracking?

If you answered yes to both last question go HD TDM. If not go HD native.

If you can afford HD native, go PT native.
And don't buy HD TDM pcix rig for use with a g5 with money saving in mind. HD pcix system actually "worth the money" if you plan to have a HD4/5 with magma chassis (more power for less money comparing to pcie) and a mac pro/pc.

Hope that help
