Purchases you were really fucking disappointed with?

I don't think I've ever been extremely disappointed with any disk I've bought. However, I was fairly disappointed with these two:

Sonata Arctica - Winterheart's Guild: Too... happy and upbeat, I guess. It didn't grab me at all. Recently I've been listening to Ecliptica, though, and I like it far more, so I know it's not just Sonata Arctica's general sound.

Fates Warning - No Exit: The singer (John Arch?) is really pretty bad. Or at the very least, the melodies are quite random, in a bad way, and hard to get into. Also, it's too much metal, not enough prog, and I don't think I've ever heard worse production.

Also these, but not as much... these all have enough redeeming features that I probably wouldn't change my decision to buy them in retrospect:

Adagio - Sanctus Ignis (this one has since grown on me)
Demons & Wizards - Demons & Wizards
Iced Earth - Dark Saga
Star One - Space Metal

My worst buy kinda has a long story. My friend used to be an uber Trivium fanboi. He got a copy of The Crusade for like $15 at a show, got it signed by everyone, immediately hated the album. I then bought it from him for $5 since I was interested in their 'new sound'. One track in I was very dissapointed and ended up selling it for $39 to a crazed fanboi on eBay. Turns out my friend forgot he got it signed (He was drunk that night).

Wow, really old thread bump.

Dragonforce - Inhuman Rampae
I don't know what compelled me to buy this album; I must've been on acid or crack or something, because I've never made a worse purchase in my entire life. Seriously, I want to go back and kick the shit out of myself for buying this album.

Kamelot - Ghost Opera
Oh wait, I didn't buy this yet. I just have the leak. :p Seriously though, this album was such a huge fucking disappointment. Review coming June 5th. It doesn't COMPLETELY touch dicks, but it really was a big disappointment compared to my expectations. After The Black Halo, I was expectin something huge and heavy with much more balls. And longer songs too. But no... They're becoming a pop band.

Megadeth - Risk
I can't even consider this album funny. Thank the gods of metal sitting high in Valhalla that Dave doesn't play any of this stuff anymroe. I'd probably hang myself if I had to sit through Crush 'Em live. O_O

Pagans Mind is not that good to begin with, and I don't think the new Nightwish was so bad!

For me it would have to be
Kamelot - Ghost Opera... Not so much that it pissed me off as I was disapointed, I mean its got some good songs, and some less good songs. Overall I just don't think its there best work yet. Not even close! All though I must say that keyes really adds an atmosphere never before seen by Kamelot!

In response to Ptah: I figured I would give it a bump since some years have passed since making this thread and I'm sure some shitty albums were purchased during that time that people aren't too proud of. :D :D

I liked "Inhuman Rampage" a little but the vocalist just doesn't do it for me and the songs should have had more variation. Were they trying to make another "Reign in Blood"?

Wow talk about thread necromancy  Personally I have never bought any incredibly shit albums, but my friend did buy all the Hammerfall albums because someone reccommended he do it, man was he pissed off.

RHCP - One Hot Minute.... crock of shite :erk:

Blind Guardian - Nightfall In Middle Earth or whatever it was called.... So much expectation, so much crap

Yngwie Malmsteen - Alchemy.... What the fuck was I thinking?? It was like wading through treacle. I couldn't bring myself to inflict it on anyone else, so it is now an ashtray

Queensryche - Q2K.... Jesus.... words fail me..... :ill:

Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory.... a chocolate-coated turd.... :puke:

Will I never learn?? *shakes fist*
