Purchases you were really fucking disappointed with?

lol... to be honest i just picked the name because it was relevant to symx... sad i kinow. It's a good song/album, but mabey i should have gone with a different name??
The Divine Wings Of Tragedy maybe? :D

I got the most cheesy name on this whole board, actually i was imitating the old Overdrive pedal with the same name. I was just joking with this stupid name, thought i could change it whenever i wanted to, now, everybody who doesn`t talk to me probably think i`m a lowlife idiot who thinks he`s better than everyone else...and it sucks!*Crying with head folded in hands*

But...but...you are the MASTER

Iron Maiden - Brave New World I was so happy when Bruce came back, and then they go and release this pile of shit. I was literally counting the days til it came out. They seriously need to retire and let Bruce get back to making decent music.

Symphony X - The Oddysey. It's not terrible, but it really is a step back from the godly V. Far too metal, not enough melody.

Virgin Steele - House of Atreus. Heard loads of good things about this, heard a couple of samples too. Everyone neglected to mention there are about half a dozen "classical" interludes written by a man who wouldn't know classical music if it came round to his house and pissed on his dining table. Yuck.

What blasphemy is this alex? On all points even! Brave new world is hands down the BEST maiden release EVER. As for the odyssey, there is plenty of melody, and as for the metal, they are a prog METAL band. Finally, virgin steele is one of the most underrated bands ever, and david defis is absolutely godly, both in voice and composition. Sure the 3598274 tracks per cd do get a little tedious, but that hardly detracts from the overall tallent and listening experiance. I know you are entitled to your oppinion, but c'mon! Your oppinion is clearly wrong :D

Q:Whats wrong with Scenes?
A: The album isnt as good as it is hyped out to be. Sure, Beond this Life is cool, Home is the best Dt song...and Dance of Eternity is really awssomme too....but there isnt any other songs off the album that i like. TOT is better IMO

I resepct your opinions, but i dont know how anyone can be dissapointed with the Oddyssey (i know that doesnt mean you dislike it, but still) To me its probably the best SyX song. That might be because i like metal more than prog. But with songs like Inferno, Wicked, KOT, The Turning are some of SyX's best heavy songs. Accolade 2 ia of course amazing, and Awakenings is a different song for SyX, but one of their bests. And the title track is amazing.

Ok, sorry for the rant. but TO is one of my favourite albums ever (i know i sound like a fanboy)

Best Maiden ever??? Are we listening to the same album? Oh well, most of the fanboys at IM.com love it too ;) I don't *dislike* The Oddesey, it just seems a little ordinary after the masterpiece that was V. The guitars don't really seem to have an equal balance with the keys either, which is a shame. And as for David being godly in composition, perhaps at metal, but he should steer well away from the "classical" bits. He just can't do them. That trumpet solo always gives me mixed feelings: I can never decide whether to laugh or vomit.

Ah, now you are mistakin' me for someone else. I respect maiden and all they have done, but Brave new world is the only maiden album i can stand to sit through all the way and not lose interest... Hardly a "fanboy"

Metallica: St. Anger......Jesus Christ that album is HORRIBLE. As someone already mentioned, it sounds like a high school garage band. I supported them through Load, ReLoad and EVEN NAPSTER and THIS is what I get!!! I left the fan club I was so pissed (was a member since 1994). Then after watching the Some Kind of Monster Documentary (which I vowed not to pay to see, but my will power could not hold) I was even more pissed at how proud they were of the album!! Yeah it was the first album where they all collaborated and blah blah blah, but you know what? IT SUCKS!! Maybe having James and Lars write everything shifts the balance of power, but it worked for 20 years so why change now?!

Spock's Beard: Feel Euphoria - this was not a that much of a disappointment for I was skeptical anyway with Niel gone and low and behold I was correct. There is a lot of SB flaming in this thread, but I LOVE Day for Night, Kindness of Strangers, V and Snow. I think they have lost their direction without Niel which is why Feel Euphoria sucks.

Yngwie Malmsteen: Attack! - Yngwie's solo stuff has never been all that great, but the vocals on this one are horrible.

Dream Theater: 6DoIT - this has been fully expressed here so I will not repeat what has already been stated. Scenes is a REALLY hard album to follow-up on though.

Damage Plan: New Found Power - not a fan of growling/screaming vocals anyway.

Stratovarius: Elements Pt. 2
:yuk:

I was initially disappointed when I got the new Evergrey CD, "The Inner Circle." I plunked down extra money for the special edition, and I was pretty pissed off when I heard it. However, I really wanted to get my money's worth out of this album ($35 canadian) and it's grown on me to the point where I kind of like it.
