Purchases you were really fucking disappointed with?

TPE1 hit me the first time I listened to it like nothing I had ever experienced before... it was one of the greatest hours of my life... I was utterly amazed at this new world of music I was discovering.
I just experianced EXACTLY what you went through, but only three days ago:)

This is a no-brainer: Metallica's 'Load', 'ReLoad'*, and 'St. Anger'**. Also,
Queensryche: 'Q2K' :yuk:

*This album I think is marginally better than 'Load' (of shit), but does not
compare at all to 'MoP' or 'RtL'.

**I had originally intended to boycott this record. I was duped into
buying it because the alleged first pressings contained a "Limited
Edition DVD" You can still find the DVD version just about anywhere.
The DVD is actually better than the CD.

man , i cant believe you thik matt barlows vocals are the worst EVER i mean, have you listened to cradle of filth!!! now that is truely crappy vocals!

im an iced earth fan so i am biased, but either way, i dont see how you could think barlows are the worst in history...when dani filth has tried his whole carrer to acheive that title.

sticking with the topic, I was kind of dissappointed with dance of death. I don't HATE it, but I felt that Brave New World was a stronger effort.

Everyone's gonna disagree but i'd have to say:
OSI

the instrumentation was cool but i couldnt get into the vocals and it made the cd a bit boring for me.

as far as rhapsody, the instrumentation is so awesome and they could be so amzing if they got a new singer and lost their whole image and theme.

Theocracy...OK, the guy is very talented. But something is just not right about the production or mixing (drum programming??) I tried to get a grip on this one but I'm just totally disappointed....makes my skin crawl.

Evergrey - In search of truth.
First song was good but I realised that all the songs had that same X-files feel with that overbearing grey overture. Fantastic musicianship just not my cup of tea. I had to put on some Pendragon to get those colourful melodies flowing after but that's just crazy old me, most people like Everygrey I believe and I can see why.

metallica - st anger... i've played it once, and once only. it'll never be played again. i think a group of little kids playing on their toy guitars and drums could do a far better job than metallica did with that one.

I'd have to disagree on Thornmoon on 6DOIT - I think it's brilliant. Oh well, just my opinion.

Disappointments? There have been a few .....

Nightwish - the vocals are horrible, but not as bad as .... (good music, though)
Opeth - yuck! I guess I'm not cut out for grunting and groaning.
Planet X - Waaaaay overhyped. Just random noise
Snow - Huh? This is terrible!
Stratovarius - again, horrible vocals but good music

The list goes on ... I also didn't care for OSI and although I'm a HUGE DT fan, and I don't care for Transatlantic. I guess it's Neil's vocals, 'cause I love the new SB disc with Nick singing.

I think Planet X is great...anyway dissapointment:
Blind Guardian: Battalions of fear.
I had heard lots of nice things about them and ordered a cd, later i found out it was from 1987, and it sounds terrible!

Just got the latest King Diamond album, and I haven't decided whether I'm dissapointed or not. They have that chick on vocals now, which I think makes the whole presentation more effective. But the fact is that the story itself is not very interesting. Most of the music is re-hash too. But I think I'll still love it anyway. It's gotta grow a bit.

I think the KD is the weakest story... well, one of his weakest stories, but i think the whole package with the dvd adds so much,a nd i didn'tthink the riffs were re-hashed at all...

Thanks to mp3s I no longer have this problem. It has been several years since I bought a CD that disappointed me. The only ones that I can really remember are:
Metallica - Load
Pantera - Reinventing the Steel
Planet X - Universe

Reinvinting the Steel was such a dissapointing cd. I remeber seeing the commercial for it and being like yeah goddamn right Pantera is back :kickass:

When I bought it I was more like :yuk: Who opened up the doors to crap r us! Another expensive coaster.

Was a terrible terrible cd from such a great band. Hopefully it will be the last.

Timmo Tolkki - Hymns to Life
is the worst CD ever created in the history of modern music.

thankfully, I downloaded it for free.
Hahahah true dat.

Kenziner - The Prophecies

Thank god I only payed like $6. What a piece of boring shit.

Stratovarius - Elements pt.1

To be honest, I don't even know why I bought it... Maybe 'cause I've got all the other Strato albums as well. Or maybe it was just curiosity, after all, this was supposed to be the biggest and most amazing album ever made.

Yeah, right... I have only listened to it a few times and I know I won't "grow to like it". I can't understand, why Kotipelto has to sing like that, it sounds horrible, especially on Find Your Own Voice :yuk:

Dunno why I bought the pt.2 as well, when I was so disappointed with pt.1...
All I can say, is that pt.2 washes the floors with pt.1.

Slipknot - Iowa

Let's just say it couldn't even touch the debut. The worst metal release ever, until St. Anger, that is...
