question about Deicide--The Stench Of Redemption

The songs In Torment, In Hell and Carnage In The Temple of The Damned are cool songs, I haven't heard Stench yet, I may get it but Carnage is off the self-titled Deicide album and In Torment, In Hell is off In Torment, In Hell. But I like their older stuff I've heard, Scars of The Crucifix is a good song too.
Homage for Satan and Crucified For The Innocence are really good songs of Stench but taht's all I've heard of Stench.

I like Serpents and Legion a lot, good albums. You'll find small amounts of shred on Scars which is a fairly good come back album, it gets weak in the middle though the last track is great, riffs are a bit on the exoitic side, though Stentch is by far their best album.

No, their older albums are not as good as Stench Of Redemption. The first two are good, but not great. Up until now it's all been pretty generic DM.

Personally I consider the first two to be classic old school death metal albums.

Old Deicide is absolutely classic, and in my opinion the best that early death metal has to offer, but they've definitely improved on everything in Stench. Their maturity really shines through live when you hear their old songs played live.

I knew this progression would come after Scars, but before that I had given up on them honestly. It took them much longer to evolve than say...Death, if that's a fair comparison.

I got The Stench of Redemption today and I'm listening to it right now for the 2nd or 3rd time, it's a great CD, I love it, I don't have to skip any tracks, the solos, despite being power metal ones, are cool, I really like the 1st one in Homage For Satan, Legion was at the store too but if you want to hear a realy good CD get this, I probably should've gotten it earlier.:)

I heard really good things about Stench of Redemption so I watched the vid for Homage to Satan and it completely put me off buying the album. The riffs & song structure are really amateur sounding for a band that's been around for so long, the extended solo sections are really wanky and unnecessary and his vocals are annoying as hell these days.

Though they may not be incredibly talented, with the Hoffman brothers gone they now actually possess talent. And I like the extended solos, I think more bands these days should have longer solos rather than the lame shorter ones.

Agreed, when we write solos we sometimes shoot for an epic one here or there. Homeage is a really kool tune.

Did Glen Benton learn how to play bass?

Personally, I think that "Once Upon The Cross" and "Serpents of the Light" were the career highlights of Deicide prior to Stench. That being said, their live album has, to my ears, the best production of any live Death metal album ever...by some considerable margin.

Were it not for the idiotic rambling of Benton between tracks, the album would be just about perfect...
