La Rocque: In geometry, never. In life (metaphorically, 'parallel lines' meaning 'people with very similar thoughts/personalities/lives'), usually.

A: Non-parallel imaginary lines on the Earth which are supposed to be usedas a reference for time zones and which circle the Earth in a vertical way. Yes, they cross both poles.
