9.5/10 Intricate riffs, far more intricate than still life riffs. More direction than previous Opeth. So many things going on which = good. Brilliant track. .5 Knocked off because Opeth's repetition by fours is getting a little bit tiresome now and predictable

^ right... almost all music ever written has been in multiples of four...
most pieces in 4/4 - most have sections built on 4... thats what FEELS correct.

Are you serious? There is hardly any "repeat riff 4 times and go into new one" in Ghost of Perdition. You are mad, my friend.

^^the acoustic part repeats 4 times, the opening riff does, quite a few do, listen. The riffs are long so its more difficult to tell but trust me they do do it

I said hardly, there were exceptions, but through most of it, it's constant changing. The progressive aspects heavily out-weigh the "4's" most of the time it's changes or melodies with something added or tooken away like added vocals or keyboards.

Also, how many time signature changes could you find in Ghost of Perdition? Thus far, without concentrating, I've noticed 3/4, 4/4, and 5/8. Maybe a possible 7/8 as well. Some of the transitions don't seem to have a distinguishable time signature.

I give it a 9/10. Some of the parts at the very beginning of the song don't really grab me, but it definitely improves. There are quite a few really awesome parts, that I sort of wish had repeated, so the song gets every bit of its nine points for those parts, namely the acoustic parts and that awesome solo 8 minutes into the song.

Plus, it makes me feel a hell of a lot better about Ghost Reveries than "The Grand Conjuration," which probably only deserves a 6 or 7 out of 10. After hearing "Ghost of Perdition," I'm definitely looking forward to Ghost Reveries.

hey the new album is fantastic
i got it from a friend of mine a few days ago and i cant stop listening to it
10/10

how the fuck is it nu-metal... Did you actually listen to the songs??? if ghost of perdition is fucking nu-metal than im seriously going to investigate the rest of this genre - but since it isn't, it makes you a fool.

.....what genre is it now?...there like 4 minutes of palm muting...what else is there to call bad metal, Nu-metal is the scapegoat term for all that is shitty and unoriginal in the metal scene...which is what palm muting and like 2 riffs in a song is (The Grand Conjuration) ghost of perdition isnt as far off as TGC, but its definatly not classic opeth, theres hardly any melodys and whatnot as in other albums
